WLL build 366 yearly rain not updating

Hello,

I noticed this am that daily rain and monthly are updating but monthly is not.

I made the correction on WLL and left for work. When I came home it was raining. WD still showed the value I set this am. Daily and monthly are updating.

I recently updated to Build 366 Feb 25th version. Not sure if that is the issue.

Program event log is empty
Debug info looks normal (noise from all the real ftp counter stuff)

Thoughts?

later update: now it seems fine. very odd.
Another update: Its off slightly again - rain has stopped - WLL matches Davis VP2. WD is what is off

Seems like it was all over the place, sometimes accurate sometimes not.

Rain has stopped for now. Month and Year are only off by .01

another oddity…

So in WLL you can adjust the yearly rainfall. Call me weird, but I like VP2, WD and WLL to match.

So I adjusted WLL to match VP2. This has always updated WD - until now

update took some time but WD did catch up. When I have done this in the past it has always been instant

Brian

It happened again…

Was raining over night. When I got up at 5am, still raining. WLL and Davis VP matched, but WD was under significantly. Now 2.5 hours later, it seems to be caught up.

Also I noticed on WD yesterday rain was 0 when in fact we got .01

Debug info and program event log look good.

Any thoughts? If you want me to send any settings etc I can.
Thanks

Did you check your rain bucket for debris?

Was out on the deck Sunday and just happen to have checked, looked good. I will take a closer look when I get home; ill remove the cone and look around - good call dan

Curious though why rain was detected yesterday but today it shows 0 in the “yesterday rain” field

Hey Dan

While that was a great call out, I thought about this on the way home.

Since WLL and Davis VP were updating fine and the problem was only with WD, then it can’t be debris in the rain collector.

Ok. When you mentioned that the rain amount was lagging my first thought was debris in the rain bucket.

IIRC the WD rain is queried from the console…but you should be able to instruct WD to count the individual tips instead…

Dan I use WLL now. While I still have my functional VP2 console, it is for show only.

WD pulls live from WLL via wifi. It has been working for well over a year without any issue.

its like its sluggish or pausing data or something. made a local copy of the log file, will see what I can find

do you have WD set to use the console rain total?
is there any errors in WD under view, program event log?

Thanks,

No errors - when I checked this am, all looked normal

Regarding whether WD set to use rain console - no clue how to do that. I rarely make any changes and defiantly don’t recall doing that.

Not sure if this screen shot helps

btw just started raining again. WD is behind davis

WD is registering rain as you can see here. Just the totals are not keeping up

Note: yearly is 10.60 Davis is 10.65

So Brian you are probably right about the console rain thing. I promise I have NOT touched that config. Would last update have done it?

Since I got WLL WD has been on auto pilot.

you already have ticked to use the console rain total
which is good
do not go and un set that

now
what shows for
rainfall_year

in the file
Daviswll.txt

one thing also, isn’t the WLL bridge, it keeps its own rain totals, separate to the original console?
i.e what shows on your weatherlink.com data?

Thanks for confirming…

Daviswll.txt file shows the correct rain fall - which matches VP console and NOW WD (well WD is .01 off but I think that is from the other day when I updated WLL via web page) -

Eventually it catches up. .However, during the rain event last night, WLL and VP were updating properly. However, WD was not - eventually it did

Btw what is NOT updating on WD - rainfall yesterday. We got an inch of rain yesterday. Yet WD shows yesterday at 0

Month and year are fine now

Brian, I think I have some useful information to share

During last night’s rain event from approximately 1830-2000 I compared logfile data from both WLL and WD

WLL showed rain data changing from 1835-1930
WD showed no data until 18:58 where it “caught up”

Sending screen shots here. I can send the WD logfile to your email

Daviswll.txt file shows the correct rain fall
what I need is a copy of that file when WD is lagging behind

re the yesterday rain, I had fixed that issue when using the console rain total in the windows version
but I will check the code for the Mac version
(its a timing issue)

Thanks,

Next time it rains (which may be soon) and i’m home i will gladly get that for you.

Can I ask a stupid question - what is the difference in the file during an event and after?

Btw this just started within a week ago. I think I took an update. Also would this explain the yesterday rain no longer showing on WD Dashboard?

the difference will be in the data

that is what I need to see (send me one when its working and then not working)

not sure what you mean by not showing on dashboard
when you say not showing, do you mean as a zero, or?

Thanks, will get this to you next time it rains and i’m here to grab it

Yes the main WD page (sorry i called it a dashboard) shows 0 for yesterdays rain despite an inch falling - see screen shot

i think i know what is wrong
I will let you know when a new update is ready

new update is ready to try
