Website does’nt appear to be updating every 10 min to web as created. When i open the View a Webpage in Web Files/Web page all seems ok!.Thanks Rob
Rob,
What does your Full FTP log show?
-Bob
if using the customise internet and file creation setup, make sure you have set times to upload the files as needed
yes, what shows in the Ftplogfull.txt file?
Bob
It reads…Connecting to FTP server 102:The Remotehost adress is invalid (0000)…Thanks Rob
That will either be a settings issue or Firewall not set to allow WD’s FTP through…
-Bob
what have you entered as the ftp server in the connections setup?
Brian…< In the FTP Host/Server > i entered [color=blue]ftp.barryweatherstation2.co.uk Thanks Rob
Bob…Checked the Firewall settings and FTpupd is enabled .Thanks Rob
ftp.barryweatherstation2.co.uk is a CNAME pointing to barryweatherstation2.co.uk which shouldn’t make a difference but…
try just barryweatherstation2.co.uk and see if that makes any difference…
If it continues to err then see if the FTP log is still showing “The Remotehost adress is invalid (0000)” if that is still showing the problem will be local to your computer or router and is usually a Firewall as it isn’t allowing the FTP client to lookup the domain…
-Bob
Bob, Checked all above and still reading error.Just a point ! in that, in the connections page the UsePassive modebox is checked/ticked ! is that right ? Also the WDftp symbol is showing in the task bar up but with no intermittent Yellow arrowshowing .Rob
Launch your Command Prompt (From All Programs - Accessories) and type in:
ping ftp.barryweatherstation2.co.uk
Hit enter and see what the results are…
-Bob
Bob…It reads initially Request timed out( appeared 4 times)…and Ping statistics for***
< Packets: Sent=4,Recieved=0,Lost=4 (100% loss),>…Thanks Rob
Packets
e-rice servers don’t respond to a ping so that’s a red herring
There is an FTP server responding at ftp.barryweatherstation2.co.uk so there is something blocking the connection on the PC.
What did you change since it was working?
Actually the ping should at least resolve the IP address like this:
Pinging barryweatherstation2.co.uk [66.98.252.110] with 32 bytes of data:
If it didn’t then something on your computer or network is blocking…
-Bob
True, since it sent pings according to the message he posted I assumed it must have resolved, otherwise I think he would have gotten something like a “ping request could not find host” message and no pinging.
Niko,
Before i realised that WD was in itself an FTP Client i installed Filezilla ! In the FTP/Internet Setup/ Connections/Host Server i deleted Ftp in front ofbarryweatherstation2.co.uk Have checked windows firewall and have ticked/checked the exception box to allow FTpupd .In the Advanced Internet Settings have gone thro the file creation/upload procedure and the overide switch is on !
In the Web Files Setup #1 / Weather Station File Name i have index Also have checked the the box to use html instead of htm.
The only area i may have messed up could have been is the page where to create/upload file times. So perhaps another run-thro of of that might help.Albeit have done that a # of times since problems uploading/updating began.
Rob
.zip and email me your settings files and I will test here
Would setting up to allow Remote Admin Access to my pc to access file be an option ?
Rob
Just use the instructions in this FAQ: Saving Settings/Configuration Files for Troubleshooting
Thanks Budgie.
