Weather Display and Android?

My friend it's a WIDGET and you have to add it on your desktop of your phone , normally as you add any other widget.

I did not realize that #-o Got it working now.

Thanks for app

Hi gpap

Thank you very much for a cool Android Widget - its working very fine.

Would it possible to add multi-language to the app? If so - I will be happy to help with Danish translation.

Best regards,

Henrik

Could it display total rain rather than rain rate?

Thank you.
Had new-user issues in finding it, downloading it and installing it. Primarily I’m a bit of a luddite on Android; but it’s down, installed and working…

I’ve written my own very simple Android widget that links up to the clientraw.txt file.

Info at https://market.android.com/details?id=uk.autumnit.android.weather.widget.Free
Or search the Android Market for “autumn it”.

Go easy on me, I’m pretty new at this.

Update: the Android widget is now at version 2.2. It now has the option to automatically search for the closest Weather Watch weather station. I don’t want to make too many more changes to it, but if anyone has any ideas for improvement, please let me know.

I just downloaded this on my andriod and I cant even open it after it downloads. The Open button is greyed out, so you cant click on it.

I think a lot of people have that problem. It’s because it’s a widget rather than an app. You have to install widgets slightly differently. Most people aren’t used to installing widgets. I put some instructions in on the Market page but I don’t know how to make it clear what to do.

Anyway what you do is this: after it downloads and installs you have to do a long press on your home screen and select the option to add widget, then scroll down and select ‘Weather Watch Widget’

HTH.

I searched for this app on my phone and didnt find it. So I went to the Android Market website
and it says it’s not compatable with my phone for some reason. Got a Droid X running unrooted 2.3.3

Was trying to build my own (didnt know where to start) and this would be a great addition for my site.

Thanks for the feedback. I checked the stats in the Android Market and the widget is currently installed on 32 devices with Android 2.3.3 and 15 Droid X devices. I also checked the list of compatible devices (there are 433 listed) and the Droid X is included in the list. So I don’t know why you can’t see it :frowning:

I could send you a direct link to the .apk file if you like?

I downloaded and purchased Weather Watch Widget. I have one request, the widget is rather small with all the writting, it would be nice to be able to make it larger.

That’s a fair point. The original reason for keeping it small was to stop it hogging too much home screen space, which is quite often at a premium. But I’ll keep it in mind.

And thanks for your support

Tried once more. Not sure what the deal is with my phone. :frowning:

I guess it would be nice to have the option on choosing between several sizes, that would keep everyone happy, including me.

From the ‘supported devices’ bit that I can see on the Android Market as the developer, you need the following on your device:

android.hardware.location
android.hardware.location.gps
android.hardware.touchscreen

I’ve also searched for ‘droid’ in the 433 devices that the Market says are compatible and attached a screenshot of what it says. (Droid X appears in the list).

Would I be able to get the .apk file maybe?

My kid wanted me to create a widget for my station. This would be great!

Question, looks like if I wanted others to install it for my station,
I’d have to give them the clientraw location, correct? Would there be a way
for me to make it easier for them?

Try this for the apk:

http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/316745/Weather-Watch-Widget-Free-apk.html

They would have to click on the tools icon on the widget and type in/paste in the URL to your clientraw.txt.

The transparent background makes it difficult to read, at least on my wallpaper.

Based on where I live I’d love to see dew point listed. That’s almost more important than the relative humidity.

I tended to think the transparent background looked nicer than an opaque one. A simple solution to improve readability would be a colour picker for the text (which is currently set to white). A drop down list of a few different colours would do it. What would be the best colours?

I don’t even know what dew point is really (sorry for my ignorance). Do you think many people would be interested to have it shown?

I’m not sure that different text colors would help in all cases. A fairly busy wallpaper might need several different colors depending on location.

Dew point is a calculation relating humidity and temperature. It’s a popular measure here in Phoenix. I suspect not many others would be interested.
