Weather data upload problem

Hello to all, I

hi
are you on dial up by any chance?
can you post here what appears under view, ftp log
(and full log details too)

I’m on a satellite internet system.

This is the only log file I could fine.

It shows that the data is downloading but it is being denied access, I have checked all settings, my user name and password are being accepted but nothing else. It only updates when I do a manual copy/paste of the files in the webfiles directory to the ftp site.

Terry

Terry,

This could be an issue, depending on your web server setup…

‘CWD /’

Do you have the remote directory set as “/” if so try removing that and trying again…

Just a shot in the dark,
bob

Terry, I have satellite also, DirecWay, and your log looks different than mine. First my ftp server is www. not ftp. It’s been a while but I think that was a mistake I was making when I first set it up. But… I’m having my own problems with ftp and I could be all wet on this. Couldn’t hurt to try once though.

One more thing where yours says 220 Microsoft FTP Service mine says 220 —Welcome to Pure-FTPd[TLS] but that may be the server side and nothing to do with WD. Someone who knows a heck of a lot more, or just a little bit more, than me may be able to explain that.

–Dave

That would be the FTP program running on the web server and would not be affected by your ISP connection.

The fact that he is accessing and logging in successfully shows that ftp. most likely is correct and again should not be a ISP issue but a web server issue…

-Bob

I guess I’d better keep my mouth shut. I have enough of my own problems without screwing someone else up. I look for differences all day long and just can’t help myself.
Thanks for the info, Bob. I’m going to learn this yet…even if it kills you guys.

–Dave

Hi all, I found the problem, I had set the IP address from the default one to one of my server’s IP address… DUHH… stupid me… I changed it back to the default address (starting everything over) and it started to upload correctly.

Thanks to all
Terry

Good Deal Terry,

glad you got it sorted…

Dave,

You keep right on posting as you never know what the deal may be and recognizing a similar ISP can be a clue sometimes…

These kinds of problems it is a matter of looking and looking until someone sees an obvious issue or someone stumbles on the right answer

-Bob

OK, old problem is fixed, new problem (or maybe part of old problem still exists) has come up. Some of the charts and data dials time and data stamps are not updating correctly, if I do a manual upload everything gets updated correctly, now only parts of the web site data time and date stamp gets updated correctly and some parts stay the same time and date as the manual upload.

If it would help someone the web site is at www.LDPWeather.com.

I have checked everything on the upload settings but I have exhausted my 55 gallons of coffee allotment on this problem and need sleep, any help would be appreciated.

Terry

OK refilled the 55 gallon drum with coffee and I

I checked my advanced settings to what was posted and everything looks to be the same, I still don

Hi
best thing:
email me your settings files (wdisplay.ini and wdisplayftp.reg) so that I can check on things for you
see in the FAQ section of this forum for how to do that

OK, I Emailed a txt file with the info you wanted to you, but could not find the wdisplayftp.reg file anywhere on the server or web site.

Terry

Terry,

The files Brian needs are on your local computer where you have WD installed as noted in this FAQ:

From you Main WD directory you should see a directory named databackup which is where the files would be placed after you do the “Back up registry entry”

-Bob

hi
yes, to get the wdisplayftp.reg registry setting file to me, please follow that FAQ
(i.e in WD go action, back up registry entry now)
(and maybe though check for any errors under view, program error log)

It’s on it’s way just E-mailed it to you, program error log is empty, any settings for that?

Terry

try turning off the custom web page switch in this screen shot

and in this setup, the customise internet and file creation setup, note that its the remote file name that is the important thing
you have it as Default.html
but strangely
http://www.ldpweather.com/LDPWeather.html
is more up to date (although you need to change the colours on the web table (in the webfiles/web page setup)

maybe you have sent me older settings?
(did you go , action, back up registry entry now before sending me the settings file wdisplayftp.reg ?)
also i noticed in the customise internet and file creation setup you have times set to create and upload the wxlocal.html to wx.html files
(do you have a file called wxlocal.htm or wxlocal2.html in the web files folder?)

Quote
maybe you have sent me older settings?..[Terry] I sent you what I had on the server

(did you go , action, back up registry entry now before sending me the settings file wdisplayftp.reg ?)…[Terry] Yes

also i noticed in the customise internet and file creation setup you have times set to create and upload the wxlocal.html to wx.html files
(do you have a file called wxlocal.htm or wxlocal2.html in the web files folder?) …
[Terry] no I dont have those fies.

(do you have a file called wxlocal.htm or wxlocal2.html in the web files folder?) ............... [Terry] no I dont have those fies.

then you should remove the times to create and upload the wxlocal.html files (and for wxlocal2.html etc)

the ftp log you sent me showed a different file name uploading to what is set to be uploaded, hence that is why i asked if you had sent me a updated registry entry
can you check the file creation time of the file you sent me
(strangely it has the 20th of december 2005, but its only the 20th…is the date correct on your pc?)
