Tempest Station - WD No longer receiving data

Well - I just got the Tempest station about 2 weeks ago. Had used WD for years with my DVP2, but about 5 years ago went with AW WS2902, so deleted all the WD program.

Re-setup WD the other day (about 1 week ago). Used all the correct inputs, and data was being retrieved beautifully.

Then - about 3 days ago, around 7:00pm local (-6 UTC), the data input just froze. No more data was coming in. Since then, I’ve deleted the entire subdirectory and re-installed about 5 times. Downloaded the latest build (148), tried and re-tried to get the proper data in-coming from my station ID, but to no avail.

I’d certainly love some help if any were availalbe.

Here’s the screen shot of the Tempest Setup page from WD…that is the correct Station ID from Tempest in the setup:

Saw something about this recently. . . does this post help?

Thank you for the quick follow-up! I did initially read that post, and I tried updating my wx station ID’s per the post, but the issue still remains.

My problem is/was that the WD software isn’t getting any data from the Temepst Station ID.

As a quick work-around, I was able to switch to the WU feed in the setup and start utilizing that data stream in WD…which my Tempest has been feeding now since it went online.

(edited to add: Of course, the WU data stream only updates every 5 minutes (that I can find), which doesn’t make it ideal, but it’ll do in a pinch until I can figure out the WD/Tempest issue)

Welcome to the forum…

Is cronweatherflow running? Can you post a screen grab of it in action?

The first thing I would do is re-download the full version of WD and install. A long time ago I used to just to the zip WD update but now prefer to do the full exe update to ensure all files are updated.

Be sure to hit the “Get Sensor Names” (in WD and cronweatherflow) so you know WD has allocated your sensor.

Thank you…I did try to re-install the whole thing (just downloaded 148 yesterday), after deleting everything. Issue still happens. The process you’re asking about (cronweatherflow) wasn’t running. I did launch it manually and it showed up in the process list, but it wasn’t make any difference. And I do have the sensor for the Tempest loaded (see my original screen shot) but not like yours (the one you show from that other thread about Rain and Tempest).

Here’s a screenshot of the cronweatherflow running…but the data wasn’t being updated. It’s only working currently by using the WU update process in the “Stations” setup.

Well - I’ve tried everything I can think of. I’ve uninstalled multiple times (too many to count) and re-installed the full package 148 and every time the issue persists. The WD app will not retrieve my Tempest Station’s data. So for now, I’ve given up. My Tempest → WU → Weather Display on my PC seems to give me at least some modicum of Weather visualization, albeit at a pace of updates every 5 minutes.

I sure wish I knew what happened after 7:00pm that night it all stopped working.

One thing that happened, I’m guessing, is that Windows re-booted itself after an update (see attached pic for the update that was installed). At this time, I don’t feel like uninstalling that update to see if it moves the needle any…

Why isn’t cronweatherflow running? When you launched cronweatherflow manually was it connecting and gathering data???

Here’s what mine looks like:

ADD: Sorry, I missed the part about you giving up.

having the same problem – cant get weatherflow to work since update --whats the current cronweatherflow version 8.5 or 8.1

8.4 is the version I’m running…

Ive been having trouble since the update ( 148 ) – getting Tempest and Weatherflow/Sky hooked up to Weather Display — Was working before the 148 update. . Now only Tempest is able to hook up to Weatherflow – I noticed that there is 2 versions of cronweatherflow 8.1 and 8.5 – why is that ?? Both 148 version/update – Help - Anyone have Tempest and WeatherFlow connected to Weather Display ? Can u have 2 or 3 versions on Weather Display working on one computer or laptop – hooked up to different weather stations to weather display

What type of weather station do you have – hooked up to weather display

Tempest station in use here. Brian notified me of an update to WD a couple days ago and it has the most recent version of cronweatherflow now. Suggest you download the WD exe full build.

Well - I guess I haven’t quite given up…learning more about Cronweatherflow and possible interactions that are problematic. Here’s the screenshot of my Cron…from build 148. It’s version 8.1. Looks pretty sparse from a data field standpoint - especially compared to yours.

Updated to add…just downloaded the latest build (I see that 148 is the major version…the sub-versions apparently change much more frequently). So - from Jun 19, 2023 I got the latest. Now Cronweatherflow is up to version 8.5. I was hoping for some magic bullet…but no joy. Still not pulling data from the Tempest station at my house. Screenshot attached:

All looks good except no data. Is something blocking TCP/UDP data on your lan?

Try ticking (no web socket) to exclude your hub from getting data from the Tempest server.

hello guys – having trouble mine too – i was told by brian that weatherflow changed their api – brian told me to send some screen shots – hes working on it – awaiting his next response

I am not local to the Tempest/Hub hardware. That is at home. I (and this WD Software) are at the office. It all worked for about 5 days up until June 13th…then it just stopped receiving data. I didn’t know enough at the time to look at CronWeatherflow when it was working fine. However, Weather Underground still gets the Tempest data…as does the WeatherFlow Tempest “app” on my phone (and the tempestwx website).

Same issue here. My WD app on my PC stopped getting data on the 15th of June. Shows data incoming and data quality is good. I’ve been busting Weather Flows chops. Seems like the old days with Weather Underground. Maybe Brian can see if Weatherflow did some sort of software update.

I noticed something strange in your cronweatherflow screen grab as compared to mine. Under the “Get Names” block I see yours is not allocating the same way mine does.

Mine: Allocated ST-00048555>163326
Yours: Allocated ST-00112615/272134>ST-00112615

What shows in WD under Control Panel → Station Type when you hit the Get Sensor Names button?

Thanks Dan!
