I could make them circles instead of spider look…
see the screen shot of my data (i.e new plot on the right (colours represent different windspeed (>25kts, 16 to 25, 12 to 16, 7 to 12, 4 to 7, 1 to 4 kts) and the proportion they are for that direction (33% is full scale). I also need to make it a web image too:

I kind of like the spider web look… and of course the color spread… If the weather goes as it is warned, I am hoping for an interesting weather spread… tornado watch. I don’t want the storm, just the rain.

now auto scales, and shows scale, and also uploads with the daily noaa style reports (if they are set to be uploaded) an image for the web (windrose.gif)
