New Forum Theme

I have done nothing , I did upgrade to the current version last night so it’s very strange that it does not work at your end.

Try to reinstall FF and see if that helps.

Hi Axelvold,

I reinstalled FF 9.0.1 and still no joy. Guess I will have to live with what I have going at the moment or maybe just use IE for this forum for now…

Thank you for your suggestion.

Stan I just fired up XP in Virtualbox and updated to FF 9.0.1 and it works fine. I suggest you start FF with all your add-ons diabled and see what happens, if it is OK re-enable one by one and see which one causes the problem. FF 9.0.1 in Linux is also fine here.

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

I disabled all the Extensions and Plug Ins with same result. Rebooted computer. Still the same…So no luck on that front. Whenever I hover over a Nav button it disappears and if it includes a drop down the background shows through.

As Bob mentioned I don’t have the color background for those Nav buttons for some reason.

IE seems to work fine.

Just puzzling right now that I am unique to this situation.

Thank you for your suggestion.

It may be something weird with your graphics card drivers. Might be worth checking if they need updating?

I just went into FF preferences and on the content tab clicked on the colours button, on there is a tick box which allows pages to use their own colour selection, if I untick this box so it uses my own colours then I see the problem as well. So perhaps check that option and see what happens.

Stuart

I can confirm Stuarts findings…

If you have “Allow pages to choose their own colors” unselected then I see the same issue that Stan has been reporting.

Making sure that “Allow pages to choose their own colors” is ticked results in the pages displaying as they were intended.

Good find Stuart

The forum looks really weird with that FF option turned off!

Hi Again,

Thanks Stuart for looking but that “Allow pages to choose their own colors” is ticked and if I untick it I lose all back ground colors but the nav buttons seem to work properly. If I change the colors, then everything goes really weird. When ticked back on things are still what I started with. Never had this issue with the older version of SMF. Using IE every thing looks fantastic. But with my FF the looks is very bland. See my snap shot. My mouse is hovering over the My Messages nav button.

With Chris’ suggestion, I may have to check with my driver for the video adapter and see if that is the issue with FF.

More to tinker with.

Thanks for all the suggestions and being with me on this issue.

Can you login to the PC as a different user?

Hi niko,

You are very much on something. I created a new user account and gave it limited usage. Now the Forum came “alive” with all what I was seeing in IE using FF.

See attached. Mouse is hovering over My Messages.

Now what do I change in my account to make this happen???

Thank you niko for this insight.

I’m no firefox expert but I think the problem is your user profile. With firefox closed, from the start menu try Run firefox.exe -p and that should show any user profiles that exist. Better to be logged in as the original user I think.

Hi niko,

The run from the start menu did not like the -p for some reason. I will try to Google to see how to view profiles in FF.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Found the profile and it is using the default.

I could edit the default but don’t know what to edit without losing all my folder tabs.

Hi,

Just using my Xoom tablet to see what kind of display is showing. Looking really good. Now to fix my FF to do the same.

Also checking what this tablet is using for its OS and browse.

Your Xoom will be Android Honeycomb and unless you’ve installed something new the browser will be the standard Honeycomb browser.

Yeah, that is the problem :? At least we have confirmed that it is somehow related to the settings stored for your user in your FF, and not a global/forum issue.

Hi All,

Finally got FF to work with this forum’s format.

Phew, I thank you all for being patient with me with your time and suggestions.

What I did, was to go to Tools → Clear Recent History. I cleared everything including Site Preferences. Closed FF and restarted FF and lo and behold the Forum came “alive”.

So, again thank you for kinda steering/thinking me in that direction.
