METAR and WD

Tweaking my setup this evening. I went into the METAR Download tab and chose our local airport (CYYR) and ticked the box “Use this Metar for local sky/icon conditions.” CYYR is observing full cloud and snow conditions yet I am seeing clear nighttime sky on my WD screen. What am I missing? When clicking on the sky conditions, I see the METAR window is showing clouds and snow but my Goose Bay, Labrador window is showing clear nighttime conditions.

Rebooted pc. The snow icon showed for a bit and now it’s back to clear night skies.
I’ve turned off the METAR switch and manually selected my weather icon until I get this figured out.

I noticed that, since turning off the METAR switch, the “light snow” text in the Current Weather has now switched to just “night.” So, some of the METAR data was coming across, but not the current weather icon. Strange.

Looks like willper here has also had similar trouble with it.

not really enough information to go on to help, sorry
really need like screen shots etc

Ok. So, I’ve included my METAR Download window, the METAR data from our local airport (notice the weather condition), my Weather Display window (notice clear night skies opposed to what METAR data is reporting) and my web site window (notice clear night skies but the “light snow” text in Current Weather). So, the data text appears to be coming across but not the weather condition icon. Also, when turning the METAR switch off, that “light snow” in Current Weather disappears, so, the METAR switch is actually working. I’ve got to attach the jpegs in 2 replies as the total size is too much.

Here’s the other 2 screen shots.

you might have it so that the icon comes from the station forecast or similar
the best thing is to email me your settings files
i.e the

databackup12019.zip zip
file
from the databackup folder
after going action, back up windows registry entry now, in WD

Sent

under input daily weather
you have set to use the icon you have selected there
unset that

try that

also I see you have the time zone set wrong in the solar setup (not related )

also try setting
use downloaded metar to update the icon
under control panel. summary image and icon setup, icon from metar

you also need to have the switch on in the metar download setup

I should have mentioned. Before sending you that file, I had turned off the METAR switch and selected the Use the icon" that I selected.

One thing you mentioned that I didn’t have set was in the Summary Image and Icon Setup. Did those there and will keep an eye on it.

At least on my web site now, I see overcast and light snow in text and icon. So, the METAR is working. On my Weather Display window, though, it is just clear night sky. I’m more concerned about my web site, but I’d like it to show on my PC as well. This is what I have ticked in the Icon from Metar tab:

UPDATE: The icon has switched back to clear night skies and yet the text says overcast and light snow.
And the “Show the metal image on the web page” in the Icon from Metar tab does not remain ticked, even though I ticked it and clicked OK.

re do the export windows settings and email me the updated file as above and I will check/test here

but I have to head out of the office for a few hours

Sent again.
After a restart or so, it seems to be sticking now.

not sure if you have sent new settings
as you still have set to use this icon as the main screen icon under input daily weather

Yes, I sent it to you at 10:30 p.m. -4 UTC last night, noted in my last post. I sent the settings after I untucked that box in input weather…
Also, the weather icon, since last night after a couple of restarts, seems to be working.

but did you go action, back up windows registry entry now in WD
before sending me the settings
otherwise they are not updated and you are just sending the last settings

I did. Absolutely.

try again just to make sure

Sent again. As I mentioned earlier, the METAR seems to be, for the most part, updating the present weather condition icon.

i see that you have set a setting you should not have set
see the screen shot
