Huge Rain Issues

Lots of rain late evening yesterday and today

When I got up this am I noticed a few things:

  1. rain rate of 36" per hour - see screenshot (btw i just checked my web page and it shows 12" per hour which is unlikely
  2. monthly and yearly rain amounts were the same - see screenshot
  3. the bottom most rain rate value was constantly changing values in front of my eyes very quickly - no screenshot

I think i’m on the latest version

We are in a drought here so have not been
able to test much
But I will check the code
But I am away for a few days…its a holiday long
Weekend here

Drought huh… WOW we have major OVERAGE of rain  want some

I will keep an eye on this.

If it happens again before you are back I may go back in versions to confirm if the problem goes away

To make matters worse today the severe weather we had knocked out power. When it came back on I had to hook up WD back to USB to get the missing data from the console. Not easy but worked

Enjoy your h holiday!!!

Not sure why u say go back to earlier version
There is none for the WLL support
U would need to simply change to usb data
Or just be patient and wait for me to fix in a few days time
Note history data does work via weatherlink.com
Ù just need to request a 2 api key and secret key
And enter that in WD and your WLL DID number that shows on
Your weatherlink.com account

been working fine since

When you say request new api and key - from davis i assume

where do i put that? I don’t recall putting the current one in. All I did was the http://IP and then clicked enable

had rain overnight. All is fine. Perhaps just a fluke

Enjoy your holidays

Quick update

The rain values (daily monthly etc) seem to be ok

We had some light snow (yeah snow in Atlanta) and rain today. Yet WD says it came down at 6.0" per hour - no way it was that heavy

try a new update, should be OK now
do you happen to have set to use the VP rain rate ?
(as I do have that working with WLL data yet (I will add that ability))

When you say request new api and key - from davis i assume

where do i put that?

you put that in the WLL setup area
you request it from Davis via their WLL v2 api chat web page

Thanks… just got up on the new version… much appreciated as always

Hope your holiday went well

Btw for WLL, I’m taking the default 15 (free) mins. I should probably upgrade to the more frequent plan. There is a 30 day free trial

you will need to upgrade weatherlink.com to the pro plan to be able to use the history data
(and you will need to request the V2 API key and secret key from the V2 WLL API support chat page (hopefully soon this will be become publicly available from your account)) to then enter into the setup in WD

Thanks, yeah I plan on upgrading. I see there is a free 30 day trial

The prices are high. 5 mins is $3.95 USD a month and 1 min is $8.95.

There is a custom plan that says to contact them. I asked if drop some of the things I didn’t need (IPM and Pro shares) can I get the 1 min at a lower rate). waiting on their reply.

I guess 5 mins isn’t that bad

Regarding getting a key, Is this the right place:

I see that the max you can get for history data is 24 hour past
so i need to make that limit in WD (otherwise if longer it does not work)

24 hours sucks… what if you are gone for the weekend and need to get it back or power goes out etc etc
24 hours is a davis thing i suspect

i’m confident you will make it work

its a limitation by Davis
nothing I can do about that
you can always use a UPS

sorry… yes that was meant towards Davis, NOT you… My apologies for not making that clear.

I have a UPS… .but learned in a power outage the other day its not working as good any more.

Time to get a new one. This one is many years old. Replacing batteries would be as expensive as getting a new one

I took the new update yesterday as you suggested

Rain values continue to be accurate

However rain rate is still off. Right now we are in a light rain. Yet as of a few mins ago WD shows a rate of 9.0"/hour - which I can say is not the case

Just letting you know

do you happen to have ticked to use console rain rate?

ahhh I think that was probably it

when the power was out the other day for many hours to get the missing data back I switched back to USB
In changing over, the davis config gets wiped out
When I went back to WLL i didn’t put it back
I had all boxes unchecked
To the best of my knowledge the screen shot shows how it has always been
Would you suggest something different

Thanks

no, i am not suggesting you to tick that at this stage
just wondering if you had it set or not

well I put it back to the .01 which i’m very confident it has always been set to

also the very bottom rain rate. I have never seen that change so rapidly. Not saying its bad, just never seen it

Made quick video to email

but i was not talking about the tip size
