I am trying to figure out how to use Weather Display Live. I am lost in how to do it. I have read through a lot of post on this forum and still do not understand how to do it. I feel like a idiot because I can not figure it out. I am getting frustrated at the whole situation. Any help would be great.

As you didn’t provide a website link I do want to make sure you are running Weather Display as your weather station software as you do have to be running WD to use WDL…
If you are and are having just a problem with WDL then please post a URL to your WDL location so we can look closer…

I am running Weather Display along with Weather Display live. All I am trying to do is get it to display on my homepage. My homepage is www.chucksndweather.bravehost.com.

I viewed the URL you provided however it contains none of the code required for WDL to work…
What was the name of the file that you uploaded from the unzipped WDL download? By default it is named index.html IIRC however your index file is not that file…

I am confused about all this. Maybe I should forget about it. Is there files I need to upload to my webpage from WDL. This stuff is just driving me crazy. I know that the Index.htm is the wrong file. My address has changed to www.chucksndweather.info. I will get back with you if I have any other questions.

You will want to download WDL from here:
http://www.weather-display.com/files.php
Unzip the file and at a minimum upload the following files to your website…
index.html
wdlv4_10.swf
wdlconfig.xml
If you plan on uploading regular WD created pages you may want to create a subdirectory on your webserver such as /WDL and place the files there…
That is the starting point.
You will also need to configure WD to create and upload a clientraw.txt file to the same location as noted in this FAQ…

If this is the first time creating a website there will be some hurdles to overcome i am sure that with some patience you can get this going with help from the users of these forums…
It can also be a help to those trying to help you if you placed your website address, location and station type in your Forums profile for reference.

you need to fix this section of your wdl config file:

i.e remove the   in the 3 places
and then save and re upload that file so that it will work in the fire fox browser
also, just ask Q’s on what you are having trouble with
All that I am waiting for is my new registration number for WDL so I can use it on my homepage. So basically I am at a standstill for now. If I have anything else I will give the forum a shout.

I believe I found the problem. I chose a template to use for my website and everytime I publish my website my index.html file gets overridden the index.html file from the template I chose. I have no idea how to delete the template of my site. I posted the problem to there forums to see how to do that. I have the files that I need in my website directory and when I click my site WDL comes up. But like I said when I go to publish my site my template takes over my site. I will keep you updated.

try then setting a different file name for the WDL web page
Chuck you can rename the WDL index.html file to anything you want and it won’t break WDL…

Are you saying to rename the index.html file from HDL. For instance indexlive.html or whatever. I wrote to bravenet to see if there is anything I or they can do to delete the template. I am slowly learning to do this stuff. It gets frustrating at times though. I folks are a great help and have a lot of patience. I really appreciate it.

Chuck just rename the index.html file that you upload for WDL to anything but index.html that will still allow it to work, though you will have to go to the actual address, and not be overwritten by the bravenet index file…

I went ahead and did that and it worked. But one problem it is not updating properly. I am assuming I need to go into one of the files and edit it or something.
