Desperate for HELP!! [RESOLVED]

Hey there, sorry for the fire drill, but i’m really at a loss.

Sat I took a normal MAC OS Catalina update. This caused WD to freak out - I was getting pop ups every few seconds asking for permissions to access the folder.

I recall Brian said his new App Store version handles code signing better, so I went ahead an updated to that.

Per his instructions:
Run the new version and immediately quit - this creates the new folder structure: ~/Library/Containers/com.weather-display.weatherdisplayapp/Data/Documents/
Copy old /documents/wdisplay to this new folder

I did this and WD came up fine with no pop ups. However, now nothing on my custom web page updates. Check out my status page: http://deputydawgwx.com/wxstatus.php - nothing is current (since Sat)

I have reviewed all the set up screens and they all look fine to me. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction of which setup I should be looking at and/or what to look for/change

I have been working on this all weekend, with no luck. Reaching out to y’all for help. If needed I can either post my screen shots OR email them

Thanks!!!

Maybe best to e-mail Brian direct?

I have… but with time difference and his schedule etc not much luck

Was hoping someone could give me some pointers as to where I should be looking

Thanks for the reply, I do appreciate it

I would be checking to see if wxstatus.php is providing true results. Are those files actually not updating? Or is wxstatus “looking” at the wrong files?

Another user recently posted that they “moved” the WD install to a new location (or computer) and discovered that the OS had renamed files. Not sure OSX would do that but it certainly would be a good idea to check. Win machines will rename files when duplicates are found. As an example, wxstatus.php could become wxstatus2.php.

My suggestion would be to verify your local files are updating, then figure out why they are not being FTP’d to your website.

Dan, Thanks… I have the wxstatus.php and include-wxstatus.php files - but not sure what i"m looking for

I could send them to you?

Wondering where else the location would be referenced - perhaps another php file?

testtags.php has not updated since sat either

I made alot of progress

I assumed I may have copied the original data incorrectly. I blew alway the new folders and started over from scratch.

This is much better now. But what still is not working is mostly the web page updates:

Main page I have to update every 5 mins (used to be 10 seconds)
Nightly dailyhoaareports - I just manually created and it worked fine

Question is WHERE do I set these to automatically work and for main page how to get to 10 seconds?

My status page looks alot better now: http://deputydawgwx.com/wxstatus.php

I think the bottom one is manually creating the detailed climate report. If so great, but again how do I make this automatic

I’m close… any help appreciated

Are you sure you updated the main page every 10 seconds? That sounds like a lot of work because it would include all the images and HTML and it’s possible that it might take more than 10 seconds just to upload all the files. The clientraw.txt file is what’s normally updated more frequently.

I just set up a standard Saratoga template, following the detailed instructions for setting up Weather Display here. Ken describes a 5-minute frequency for the main upload, including testtags. The clientraw update frequency is up to you - as long as you tell the template what it is! He shows 10 seconds, I use 20 seconds.

I don’t know if the WD pages he shows are any different on the Mac. . .

Not sure why to be honest. It was just set up that way LOL. What is typical? Even if I wanted 10 seconds NO clue where to do it. In the custom screen lowest is 5 mins. Minutely would be good I guess.

THANKS

I might be wrong, but one reason for WDL and its replacement FreshWDL being produced was to give a more real-time feel to the WD pages. WD does a lot of work to produce the main page including all the graphs/images and then there’s a lot to upload. I’m not even sure it could all be generated and uploaded within 10 seconds and even if it could be you’d be putting a lot of load on your computer and Internet link to do it. This is why only the data was uploaded ‘rapidly’ in the clientraw files leaving WDL/FreshWDL to render the data into a page on the server. It may be that 5 minutes is the minimum allowed value for uploading the entire main page and associated images files.

This is just from memory of discussions at the time. I use consolewd so I’ve no recent experience of using the GUI versions of WD.

Not sure all what that means. It has always worked like a champ. The only stuff that changes is on the web page - live data (rest stays the same) so not bad

I could see how 10 seconds is too much. Minute would be good. There is a tick mark for t hat but NOT working

Thanks, been on that page before. I only found one page where the switch was not on. Otherwise, looks all good to me (mac vs windows are different look but essentially same stuff)

Can anyone tell me why my status page:
Weather-Display realtime NOT Current 0:12:52 > 0:00:15
Wed, 30-Nov-2022 12:42pm

is not current.

For the bottom NOAA reports - i have no interval - what should that be. I think these only need to run at midnight for the prior day

I have made alot of progress but still not where it was. Thanks for all your help. almost there

Because clientraw.txt is not being uploaded (or you haven’t told the template where to find it).

For the bottom NOAA reports - i have no interval - what should that be. I think these only need to run at midnight for the prior day

I don’t know. . . the setting is on the same page as a lot of other things (see attachment), but according to my Saratoga template flyout-menu.php WD doesn’t do NOAA reports :?

I can’t find them on your page.

Anyway, status says your NOAA is current but the WD Month reports are not. . . it says! :? :?

My WD Month reports seem to be uploaded daily at the same time as the avg/ext setting: 00:11

Thanks Bit,

  1. clientraw.txt - i thought/think it is (screenshot)
  2. monthly - my screen looks exactly like yours EXCEPT no time to upload it (screenshot).

Btw only way daily got uploaded was by me manually creating it.

I know i’m missing something basic, but cant find out what. I have been staring at all these config pages soo much

Btw for the daily and monthly. The files ARE being created, just not uploaded

I would forget the advanced setup for clientraw and go to the Real Time clientraw upload page, screen 2 in Ken’s instructions, as I suggested in a different thread.

Then you can set 10 secs create/upload time (box labelled “Delay between uploading data”) with no problem.

Shown here but it may not match your version…

wait… I was just going to say I my version doesn’t have the check for create time but it does. Swear I have been looking at these so much over the last few days I missed it.

Guess I could try that

Well scratch that. I made the change hit OK but when I come right back in the box remains unchecked

Not sure if the create time box is important, because the page heading says “This will upload the clientraw.txt file every 3 seconds” so I assume the default create time is 3 seconds. I only change the create time box to agree with upload frequency to relieve the computer of the ridiculous task of updating clientraw every 3 seconds.
