Follow the instructions in the thread you mentioned, but do this while you’re NOT running a forecast (I’m wondering from your description if that’s what you’re doing - otherwise I don’t see how the error message could appear). It’s probably not necessary to close and reopen the program (though you can try that if necessary). Just don’t be in the process of trying to run one at that thime. At that point, it’s too late in the process.
Please let me know if you have any more problems with it.
I think maybe my instructions weren’t clear enough. Do this:
(1) Open WXSIM.
(2) Click Import/Import Data.
You will now be looking at the Import form. At upper left there are lots of check boxes. You want three of them (surface METAR, RAOB, and READY or GFS) checked. If only the top box (surface data) is currently checked, that would explain your getting the message when you run forecasts (there’s another explanation I’ll mention in a minute). Let me know what you see there. Now …
(3) Make sure the 3 boxes are checked.
(4) Click OK.
At this point I don’t think there’s any way you could see the message. It’s triggered only when you’re actually running a forecast (as far as I know!).
Now, just to make sure changes are “sticking”, go to step (1) again, and see if the boxes are still checked. If so, you can now try a forecast again.
If you still get the message, you need to see whether WXSIMATE has gathered the data. It’s in wdata.txt. I’ll be glad to look at that file for you if you still have problems.
Can you send or post a screen shot of this? I’ve just looked at my code and the only event that should be able to trigger the appearance of that message is if you click the ‘Get Data’ button. All I’m wondering right now is if you can save settings. Make sure auto run is off, and JUST check the boxes. Somehow, the Get Data button is getting ‘clicked’, either manually or by doing this while it’s in auto run. I think I forgot to make a point that you need to turn off auto run first (under Start/Auto Run).
This is strange. It’s exactly what I get if auto run is NOT disabled. Somehow, it’s still enabled. Otherwise it would not even be trying to make a forecast. I believe you that you tried to disable it, but somehow, it’s still “on”. Maybe it’s that you have ‘start scheduler on next boot up’ checked on the auto run form, and then you open the program and it goes into auto mode. Try making sure that box on the auto run form is NOT checked.
By the way, one of the features in the most recent version is a notice right there on the main data entry form telling you whether auto run is on or not.
Let me know what happens when yuo try that. Again, I’m almost positive that somehow auto run has been left on.
