See if this FAQ helps: Moving WD to a new/different PC

You won’t be able to backup the registry so you’ll have to use what’s already there, but the rest should work OK.

Thanks, Now please help me, which files do I copy into the new wdisplay directory?

copy across the whole folder (i.e the whole folder and all files/sub directories)
to where you have first installed the full install version

Sorry but that didn’t work. I installed the current latest version. then copied all my old files in that director, when I try to run it I get runtime error 217 at 0018A734.

make sure the files/folders you are copying are not set to read only (write protected) or similar

Make sure you are installing WD to C:\ such as C:\ WDisplay, and NOT to Program Files

Bob and Brian,

I can run the new version 10.37Q in the trial mode. Is there a way to get my old setting and registration. copying all the files is not working. I have the folder in the c:\wdisplay folder not in my programs.

John

John,

The only way I am aware of to get your old settings would be to execute the wdisplayftp.reg file as was noted in the Moving WD to a New Computer FAQ

-Bob

OK, I will go back to trying to get the hd to work one more time. Thanks

did you have the old version of WD set to do back up of WD settings/data?
(recommended)

if so then you would have the wdisplayftp.reg file

as for the registration, email me the new code that shows

Good news,I had the backup file, I got you latest prgram to run. Now what am I missing to get the davis vantage pro to work. was there a weather link to go between wd and davis?

what type of data logger?
usb or serial?

usb

you will need to install weatherlink, to get the usb driver installed
make sure though weather link is set to serial and not usb (usb express) mode
so that a virtual com port shows up in device manager (with a port number )
if set to usbexpress mode you can unset that (see the FAQ)

Brian,

I finally got weatherlink to work. I am using weatherlink 5.9.3 and running W7 64. It all seem to work now.

Thanks for your help
