WXSIM Night Forecast

Hi all
Can somebody tell me when WXSIM considers it’s nighttime and will run a nighttime forecast?
It’s 1900hrs here and it’s forecasting on today and not tonight.
I have cooridinates and date and time set orrectly.
Many thanks
Chris

I run 4 forecasts per day the last at 22:00 local time and it says Tonight and then Thursday as it was run on Wednesday evening! One run today at 03:00 says Rest of tonight and Thursday, and my latest run at 10:00 says Today and Tonight!

So works for me!

Stuart

Cheers mate. 2250 here, the last run being 2200 and it still forecasting for the day. I’m going to do hourly forecasts tonight and see when it night forecast kicks in.
Cheers
Chris

You’re welcome, I would suggest one thing and that is the time settings in both WXSim and the data downloaded and perhaps in the PC as well as something is confusing it somewhere. Being here in the UK if I have GMT rather than BST it’s only 1 hour out

Stuart

Checked the times as suggested. Cannot see any issues. I had to run Full Start for it to change the forecast.
The quest continues…

So my issues, and there are many but let’s stay on topic, is the autorun.

Does anyone know how to initialise a Full Start without Auto Run? If I can find that then I can I set it up in System Scheduler Pro.

Many thanks
Chris

I thought full start was just a manual option, the only way I can think of is record a macro with all the mouse and key press’s in and get you scheduler run it provided wxsim is open, you’ll have to look that up and if it can be done on the latest windows

Yup. I just need to know what app, command is initiated when Full Start is pressed. I use System Scheduler Pro, a scheduler outside of Windows.

This is strange because when I used to run WD and WXSim under Windows 7 I used a freeware task scheduler to start the various programs at the appropriate times and then allowed the WXSim schedules to run and end each program. Now I do the same in Linux with a PHP script starting the programs and allow the WXSim schedules to do the same and it works fine for all my auroruns. It always creates the plaintext.txt file with the correct descriptions in.

There is obviously something else having an effect here but right now I cannot think what it could be. Maybe ask Tom?

Stuart

PS. Just had a though could your original config files be corrupted, if you still have the original copies somewhere try replacing the ones in WXSim and see what happens.

I’ll try that now. Cheers

I have WXSIMMATE on a 2 hourly schedule, then I run a manual Full Start 2-3 times a day/evening

I had one more thought about your auto forecasts, my plaintext for this morning shows at the top line

initialized at 9:55 15 May, 2025

so do your auto forecasts show the correct initialised time at the top? It may give a clue as to what could be wrong.

Stuart

Hi Stuart
It only displays the last auto run date and time. To explain:

    1. I run a manual full start
    • I then enable auto run
    • The first auto run displays the correct time and date at the top correctly
    • Any auto run’s after the first keeps the first time and date, step 3 above

I hope this makes sense.

Chris

that should not be happening
i think you need to email Tom about this something may have got corrupted

I will. The strange thing is, it just did an autorun and for 0600 and it’s got the correct date and time. Very odd.
Many thanks for your help.
Chris

Chris one further thought check the data downloaded by wxsimate and make sure the gfs is the correct date and if it is then check the data being imported by WXSim is the same.

If all good then ask Tom.
