WXSIM 2022 Released!

my 9pm run went ok

Hi
Everytime I try to download it the antivirus says there is malware etc and deletes it !!
so would love to upgrade to it…

Just managed to download of wxsim website so will try that
Thanks

What antivirus said that? I’ve had a couple of people say Windows Defender complains about it. Very frustrating! I can’t imagine any way there could be a virus in there! My guess is that it just doesn’t know what my programs are, and then - if you do get then loaded - sees them accessing the internet and each other.

If any of you know any more about how these things work or why they would target my programs like that - and what I can do about it - please let me know!

Thanks!

Tom

I get warnings when I download and install from MS Defender. The warnings are asking ‘not many people use this software, are you sure it’s safe?’. That’s probably a reasonable question to ask. If I select ‘Keep’ and ‘Yes I know the software is ok’ (or similar words) then it installs and runs without problems.

As for how these security things work…there are a variety of different approaches used by anti-malware and firewalls, but it doesn’t really matter what they are You’ll find them difficult to defeat, because if it was easy to do, the malware authors would be doing it to get dodgy dsoftware onto your PC.

Yes its windows defender !!! #-o

With Defender there should be an option to keep and then install the file. By default it will say it’s dangerous and suggest not keeping it but if you confirm you’re happy to accept it then it doesn’t delete it (or didn’t for me at least).

Malwarebytes Premium deleted wxSim.exe file during a routine scanning of the PC. #-o

I excluded the WxSim folder from scanning and everything looks Ok!

This is probably a false positive and Malwarebytes should find the reason why!

Thanos.

I have Malwarebytes, too, and it did this to me, on my own computer! It deleted all my instances of wxsim, and the shortcuts to them! Fortunately, I had all the source code and also copies saved elsewhere. It said it was “ransomware”. Anyway, I told it to allow the program, but it had already deleted it. After rebooting, I got wxsim reinstalled and malwarebytes hasn’t comlained since.

As a paying customer of Malwarebytes, I attempted to log in and ask them to fix this (put WXSIM on the safe list, because I certainly have not written ransomware!). I discovered that their customer service is TERRIBLE! There’s no phone number, or chat. I did find a forum there where I could supposedly submit a ticket, but in trying to log onto that, it kept asking me “I’m not a root” type security questions, with easy answers, and it kept telling me I was wrong! Several times it asked me what the second planet from the sun was. I said Venus, and it said I failed the test! Same with telling it that the abbreviation for “For Your Information” is FYI.

The next day the sent me a notice of an upcoming automatic payment, and an increase in the price. I realized my credit card infomration had changed, and tried to go correct that. That put me in a loop that wouldn’t even let me change it! Easy decision: they’ll try to charge my old card and it won’t work, and I’ll be happy to ditch them. Absolutely the worst web site I’ve ever seen. About three clicks and you always come back to the same page.

Oh well!

I must visit the forum more often. Just downloaded the update

Would it be possible to have a dynamic temperature scale in the Euromix graph? Now it seems to be fixed -20C to +30C, and then you don’t see much variation in the graphs.
