Wunderground upload icon with new 10.37Q

All
I recently downloaded the new version of WD and have a very annoying problem. Whenever I upload to Wunderground (set to every five minutes) a globe icon is added the navigation pane in the taskbar. Every five minutes means that every hour I have twelve new (globe) icons on my taskbar which in turn multiplies with every five minutes. This is making Wunderground unusable if the pc is left unattended. I seem to have gone through every option on setup but with no avail. This did not happen on my previous version of WD. Can anyone point me in the right direction? :frowning:

Windows Vista OS
Irox Pro weather station.

which version of the cronwdwu.exe ?
you should have version 1.3
download the latest version of that from
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/cronwdwu.zip

Sorry Brian, just checked and cronwdwu.exe is version 1.3.0.0

Below shows five, five minute interval uploads.

Clicking the icon brings up the following:-

Connection status OK
Wunderground connection status OK
Status OK
Completed
Connection status OK
Disconnected OK

it should close OK
does here in testing
anyone else have this problem?
maybe check your firewall/antivirus program is not blocking it

is it still running in task manager?
(cronwdwu.exe)
or is it just that the icon is left behind (which version of windows?)

Many thanks for your persistance, Brian.

Both cronwdwu.exe and the main WD program are set to allow in my anti-virus.

cronwdwu.exe does not show in the task manager unless I click the icon and open up its respective window. As you say, the icon just seems to be left behind after it’s been used.

OS is Windows Vista.

As an addition, all data/graphs on the Wunderground site update and work perfectly ok.

As I said before the previous version of WD (I believe it was 10.37h) worked with no problems at all on the same pc with all the same settings.

(On a lighter note, I should have 96 little blue globes on my taskbar when I arise from my slumber in the morning!)

yes because the WU updates are now done by this separate .exe, cronwdwu.exe

try a new update, from the link above

10.37Q b34 replaced with 10.37Q b35. Problem persists.

One thing I’ve found - Control panel > Weather Underground. If I ‘Test a data send’ the data is sent via ftpupd, the ftpupd icon appears in the taskbar and then dissapears. No problem at all. This was the way (and the same icon) as 10.37h worked. Couldn’t the upload to WU in 10.37Q be altered to use the original 10.37h ftpupd program rather than cronwdwu.exe. Its obviously still there as it uses it to test a data send?

I had same problem when I upgraded to build 34. Couldn’t stop it happening and in the end let Startwatch sort it out by not allowing 2 copies of same program running. I’m using XP SP3 on an Atom PC. I reached something like 12 copies showing and WD locked up, hence the Startwatch solution.

the test button now uses the cronwdwu.exe

grayptu:
how often do you have set to upload to WU?

every 5 minutes here and no problems with icons

I have just upgraded to 10.37Q build 37. Startwatch has been turned off and the multiple cron problem seems to have been sorted so far. My uploads to WU are now at the 10 minute intervals I had selected in WD, previously they were very odd intervals.

sounds like its all OK now, so thats good
having the wunderground uploads separated out from all other uploads looks like has been a good idea
