When mine goes I’m going to try some of that aluminum tape that is used to fix mufflers and tailpipes. Black tape would get VERY hot here in the desert.

Wow I was thinking the same thing except that I was thinking about the aluminum tape used for air conditioning duct.
The aluminium tape used for air ducts is what I used to protect my plant-pot saucer pagoda in which are housed the temp/humidity sensors. This keeps the temp the same inside and outside,
Ok the tape trick does appear to be working as it should be. I will fix it with the high temp aluminum duct tape when I take it down to move it.
Ok I got all the stuff to relocate my anemometer higher. I aso bought some hightemp aluminum foil HVAC tape to replace the black electrical tape ( which has worked like a champ) for a more permanent fix. I will get all this taken care of as soon as The rain stops here.
I had the same problem some time ago - put on black tape and it fixed it immediately. I have had no problems ever since.
I put the aluminum tape on it. all is well. It is relocated higher and working well.
Thanks people for this.
The black tape job did the trick first go! By the time I got down the ladder and inside it was back to normal.
Nothing like making something out of good quality plastic.
I wonder if La Crosse support will reply, from what I am reading I think that I will not hear from them.
I will just add here that I have a WS3610.
God bless the internet and message boards! I have been going nuts since I moved my wind gauge to a new location. I built an instrument shelter for the temp unit and then never got the wind to come back all the time. No it sounds a lot like what I am reading here. I plan to replace the crap wire with good shielded stuff next weekend but until then…can someone be a bit more specific before I climb onto my roof as to where I need to put the tape (ie where the optical sensor is?)?
Thanks
prefect. Thanks
