WMR200 connected to NSLU2 with Meteohub firmware : WD Graph possible ?

Hello,

I’m using a WMR200 connected to internet with NSLU2 ( firmware Meteohub )
Because WD has very good presentation, i would like to get my weather station datas visibles with WD over internet :

My station is reachable here : http://membres.lycos.fr/lcoulon1/WMR-200/

At the moment, i’m have DEMO version for Weather Display ( it comes with Meteohub )
Is there a way to get full version working with Meteohub ?

If so, what should i go with ?

I saw on WD web site ( download section ) that Weather Display is freeware for NSLU2.
It that version will be compliant with Meteohub already installed on my NSLU2 ?

I will appreciate your experience,

Assuming that it’s the Windows version of WD that you want to use, there is an FAQ about setting that up to read from Meteohub here:

I think the version you’ve noticed is the special ‘console’ version of WD that actually runs on a suitably prepared NSLU2?
So far as I’m aware you cannot run that on a NSLU2 that also has Meteohub on it, and if it’s ‘presentation’ that you are interested in then you probably want the full ‘GUI’ version rather than a ‘console’ version anyway.

Well, the WD-Live graph seen on my web page is NOT coming from any Windows version run on my computer…

I think this WD-live graph is a Meteohub plug-in that retrieves datas from my NSLU2.
I don’t know how to get full version with no DEMO advice on it.

Ahh. I see. WDL and WD are not at all the same thing. I thought you were asking about WD.

Meteohub includes an evaluation copy of WDL, and Meteohub can produce (close) equivalents to the clientraw.txt files that WDL expects.

For more about WDL see:
http://www.weather-display.com/wdlive.php

Does that make more sense now?

Yes, i checked this address already.
But how WD-Live works with NSLU2 ?

If i buy the full version ( Standard or Premium ) , will it update Meteohub firmware ?
I guess i will need to copy a file into my NSLU2 to get WD-Live fully working ?

As anyone done this already ?

By the way, do you know if extra sensors for WMR200 Weather Station : THRG 810, THWR800 and solar UV sensor : UVN800 are all compatible with WD-Live ?

WDL is a Flash based application, so it ‘runs’ in the browser that is looking at it rather than on the hardware where the file sits.

I don’t use it myself, but I think that most Meteohub users who do have WDL have the registered copy on their web server rather than on the NSLU2 itself (and have Meteohub upload the clientraw files to the server).
The best place to ask about WDL and Meteohub is probably the WDL section of the Meteohub Forum.

Hi!
Is there any free software to put together WD and NSLU2 under WINXP??

Marco

can you explain that combo more?

Well my weather data working just great over my PC. I put together my web page here (it is on slovenian language)
http://www.kasiopeja.com/wmr200/wx.html

Because the PC “eat” to much energy i just buy NSLU2 and I wold like to transfer all the information via NSLU2. I have licenced WD also WDL.

Now i have the problem. I put together NSLU over my LAN and LAN recognised NSLU just fine, but after i installed new firmvare for Meteohub NSLU stoped recognized the 4gb USB stick and it is now “dead”. I have no idea what to do I can t even communicate to NSLU now. I use WINXP SP3. That way I ask if is there some other way to put all this together?

I am using wmr200 and working just fine. In download section I couldn find anymore WD for NSLU??

Marco

To my knowledge there is a stripped down console version of WD available for NLSU2. So if Meteohub does not fit your needs that might be an option.

WD-Live has nothing to do with your NSLU2, it is a flash application to be located on your web server. WD-Live displays data to be provided by WD (running on your PC or a WD console equipped NSLU2) or by a Meteohub system (NSLU2, SheevaPlug, ALIX, whatever hardware you selected).

If you want to have your problems setting up a NSLU2 as a Meteohub system sorted out, I would recommend to post to meteohub.de forum. There is a NSLU2 section. Error #1 in setting up USB sticks for NSLU2 Meteohubs is that DiskImage has not been used in “physical disk” mode. The manual is clear about this, but we humans tend to read over details sometimes…

Is there any link to WD for nslu2. I just can not find it…

Thanks Marco

To my knowledge that development branch is named “WDconsole”. A search in the forum will give some hits for that.

As I am more on the Meteohub side, one of the WD experts here (Brian, Niko, …) might give additional guidance on actual status of WDconsole for NSLU2 and what is needed as a prerequisite?

Actually I believe it’s the ARM version, wdconsole is for regular pc/linux. I suggest you send a forum personal message to “windy” and ask for the download location.

I musst say I am really angry and dont know what to do?

I just buy new NSLU2 My LAN working well with router. I inserted Nslu CD and i had have communicate withh NSLU2 over LAN well. After that I go to meteohub webpage and downloaded new firmvare for NSLU2.I put USB 4gb stick to potr 2 on Nslu and then all dead. I put out first power cord and Usb stick, andf after that i try at last milion time and I could not get connection to nslu any more. I try several time press reset button even more then 1 minute pull out power socket but NSLU refuses to go to factory default.
I try and i get the connection with ping 89.212.87.101 - PC and NSLU communicated 100% but now I dont know what else to do next. Shoul i reset the router to factory depault too??

The NSlu writes onUSB stich IPlog and there you can find this data:

It is funny that no LED for disk 2 lit on Nslu even USb stick is on the nslu. Before I upgrade nslu2 with meteohub the disk2 led is lit no problem.

Any idea what else to with this part of equipment???

Thanks Marco

Ok I find the problem. I did not finish upgrade of Meteohub to NSLU2. I made this and I have now full acces to NSLU2 ov3er LAN. Meteohub working just fine. I have a lot to do. Please can you tell me where in WD can find that rain gauge is sensor rain0 anemometer sensor wind0. I check all the program and could find that info.

Thanks

Marco

If you are using the Meteohub logging protocol to communicate between WD and Meteohub then you don’t need to set that - WD already expects the rain gauge to be rain0 and the anemometer to be wind0.

There is an FAQ on using the logging protocol to communicate between Meteohub and WD here.
