Will Weather-Display work on the new M1 Macs?

Will Weather-Display work on the new M1 Macs?

Thanks.

I think you might mean the new ARM CPU chips?

Yes, Apple is calling their new chip the “M1”.

not currently , and it will affect other programs too
but once the compiler I use can support that new setup, then yes

That means that Rosetta won’t run it?

I presume you are referring to Rosetta as being the next operating system?
(I am doing a lot off guessing here on what you are meaning)
if Rosetta is running on an intel chip then it should work I would suspect
but if you were to run Rosetta on a new mac with a new arm chip then it wont work

Excerpting from https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211861:

Rosetta 2 enables a Mac with Apple silicon to use apps built for a Mac with an Intel processor.

Rosetta 2 works in the background whenever you use an app built only for Mac computers with an Intel processor. It automatically translates the app for use with Apple silicon.
In most cases, you won’t notice any difference in the performance of an app that needs Rosetta. But you should contact the app developer to inquire about a version that can natively use the full power and performance of Apple silicon.

Hope this helps.

ah, that helps
doing some googling, looks like WD Mac version will work  (using Rosetta 2)

Glad to be able to provide the info.

I have had an email from a user of a M1 Mac and WD does work
(only thing he noticed so far was the metar download was not working…I am getting him to test a change that might help)
