What's wrong with customtextout.txt (2)

Hi from France

I had a good file since the 1rst of november, a record line for each 15 mn data, everythig was ok

Last night I’ve disconnected my computer from the weather station, and have reconnected this morning

Here is the beginning of the “customtextout.txt” file

"[color=Green]

06:45 16/11/2004 8:02 17:10 12:54 20:25 Moon age: 4 days,3 hours,44 minutes,18% 06:49 UTC 20 mars 2004 00:57 UTC 21 juin 2004 16:30 UTC 22 septembre 2004 12:42 UTC 21 d

when you disconnect the weather station from the PC, do you then also shut down weather display

Yes I shut down every thing, and I shut down the computer sometimes during the night, for a few hours, and the next morning I reconnect every thing
This morning, every thing was working great, I think that the file was “invaded” later and it have deleted all the line between 01 11 04 00:00 and 16 11 04 07:00… I don(t know why

I don’t have anymore data for this interval time (15 days !!), I hope I can get them in another file…

you had the PC off for 15 days or you have now lost 15 days of data just by having the PC overnight?
is that because your custom file was recreated/overwriten at program start up then do you think (when you otherwise have it set to be appended to). maybe that is the problem>?

No I’ve lost 15 days of data… it must be “appened” or not, to not be overwritten ??

so you have the customtext out being appended to (i.e it gets longer and longer)
(ie you have wd set to append the custom text)
but when you restart wd, its all lost/wiped, starts over again…
is that is what is happening?

I’ve ticked “yes” in the “append to the text file” option, and when it’s set like that, the file gets longer and longer…
I guess that what you describe it"s what happened this morning

Perharps since a new version updated… Yet I have the 10.19o…
Tonight, I’ll let everything working… and try to make some script windows program to backup each night the “customtextout.txt” file to avoid it from beeing deleted…

if that has what has happened, then that is a bug, and I will look into it and fix it, and I apoligise for that bug that wiped your data in your custom appended log

 so, I’ll try to look for my data in a another file as a “*.csv” file… I thing I can find some good things in there …

I understand that the bugs are always running until somebody tells you its existence…
This software is great and I think that we can help you in making it better with our comments and bugs reports…

sorry for my english, sometimes, I’m looking for the right words…

another new problem I’ve just seen some minutes ago

For a while, I shut off WD. And when I have ran the software again, it does’nt write the data during the time WD was off…

For example : WD was off between 21:30 and 22:20, and when I have a look at the file I find this:

1024.0,10.1,9.1,11.8,5.4,7.8,73,17.8,W,17.1,25.2,0.3,20.6,482.0,NUIT,4.9, 0 %, 0,0.0,680,21:30,17/11/2004
1024.0,10.2,9.1,11.8,0.0,7.6,69,17.0,W,20.4,25.2,0.3,20.6,482.0,CREPUSCULE,4.9, 0 %, 0,0.0,776,22:15,17/11/2004
the 21:45, 22:00 data are missing…

What’s wrong ???

it will be becuase the part of the program to update the custom log is not hooked into the sequence of updating data from the data extraction
i will have to do that
(actualy it is hooked in, but if you dont have it set for every minute, then it wont do it on the data extraction…but i will just need to set a flag
