Hi
In WD my webcam capture update frequency is set at 1 minute but I would like to set it to every 15 seconds. I have changed the setting to 15 in the “Capture to file frequency in seconds” but it seems to make no difference and the actual update frequency remains the same at 1 minute. I have searched and read the forum topics but most of the posts are pre 2007. Can anyone advise me please?
Cheers
just did a test here
works OK, vers 9.3
(i know because I set to show a label and a time stamp)
which version of the wdwebcamcapture.exe ?
make sure you have keep alive ticked
Hi Brian
My version of wdwebcamcapture as displayed on the top left hand side of the open webcam window states ver 6.3. However if I hover my mouse cursor over the wdwebcamcapture.exe file in the WD folder it displays ver 6.2 and the file is dated 17/11/2009.
The keep live box is always ticked.
Perhaps I’m not understanding what is supposed to happen. If I set the frequency in seconds to “0” and tick the button next to one minute, the webcam updates my jpg file every 1 minute? If I then set the frequency in seconds to “15”, is the upload frequency supposed to be every 15 seconds or is it increased to 1 minute 15 seconds? I have understood it to be the first.
Can you think of any other options? I am running WD on XP pro.
Thanks
I think we are being confused by update /upload
the file on your PC will get updated every 15 seconds
but were you looking at upload (i.e ftp) to be every 15 seconds?
Hi
No, I have no confusion with update and upload. The webcam file on my PC “webcamimage.jpg” updates every minute disregarding what the “capture to file frequency in seconds” is set at. I haven’t been concerned with the FTP upload frequency until I get the file updating problem sorted out.
I have the “create temporary file (safe mode)” box ticked. Would this have any effect on it or can you think of anything else?
Cheers
Hi
As an after thought I’ve attached a screenshot of the webcam capture settings.
Thanks
You may find this how to make a screenshot FAQ useful.
I’ve also been curious as to why the blurb about installing Google Earth would help shows up here.
that was a component upgrade that made that google earth thing show up
Dobbies , if you open the image file every 20 seconds does it have a new time stamp on that image?
it should do
Hello Brian
I am extremely sorry for wasting your time. Yes the image is changing as per the setting in the “capture to file frequency in seconds”. I hadn’t previously done as you suggested and opened the file to find out. I have just been looking at the file properties in windows explorer where the image time updates once every minute.
Dare I ask you how to upload the file to my website every 15 seconds using FTP?
Thanks and again so sorry.
you can upload every minute or at set times, easily, via the webcam upload, in the ftp/internet setup
you can also set to have it uploaded via the clientraw real ftp at a fast rate, in the webfiles/web page setup, real time ftp
