I’m having a problem getting my webcam image uploaded the my website. The .jpg file is getting created ok, and when I look at the website locally the image is fine. In the ftp log there is no mention of it, although there is a blank line in the file list which is perhaps a bit strange. What controls which files are uploaded? If I test the file upload, it works fine.
Check your Web Cam Setup page.
Pick the times you want your file uploaded, be sure to ‘Choose a web cam file’, and, ensure you have the ‘ON’ button turned green.
- Setup →
- Control Panel →
- FTP/internet/metar/email/report/connections Setup Client/server setup →
- Web Cam

Thanks, Dan
Yes, that bit’s all ok. I have a file name in there, and it matches the one that’s being created, and I have some upload times, and the button is green.
Now I just noticed on odd thing. Just to check, I pressed “Test a upload” on that page. And here’s a part of the ftp log:
list of files uploaded*
C:\wdisplay\webfiles\webcamimagejpeg.jpg
actual messages from upload session*
…
Doing ftp upload
Checking there are files to upload
There are more files to upload
PORT 217,135,145,88,13,109
200 PORT command successful.
STOR webcamimage.gif
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for webcamimage.gif.
226 Transfer complete.
No more files to upload
…
And when I check the site, webcamimage.gif is recent. Of course, my web page is looking for webcamimagejpeg.jpg. I must have set up an override somewhere, I guess, but I can’t find out where. Any ideas?
hi
is it the jpg image that you want uploaded or the gif?
in the web cam setup, direct or 3rd party, there is an option to upload the jpg image
but something seems to be a miss there…
what you could try is:
setup, control panel, web cam setup, then the top most button, load/set the web cam image
and then select that jpg image
that might fix it
Check the Web Cam capture setup page. Towards the bottom is a place to tick “Create a jpg image as well”.
Dan
It’s the jpg image I want uploaded.
I’ve re-selected the jpg image using the “load/set the web cam image” button. I’ve ticked “Create a jpg image as well” on the “Setup/view direct live web cam capture” page, but I can’t find an option to upload the jpg image on that page. Should I be using “Set up image settings for other web cam capture software image”? - I thought that was just for using third party capture software, so I have it all turned off. I’ve ticked “Use a jpg image for the web image at graph time” on the top level web cam image page.
hi bob
also:
setup, control panel, ftp/internet settings, web cam upload
click on choose a web cam file
and select that web cam file (the jpg image)
try that too
I’m afraid that didn’t help. It still seems to be renaming the file during the upload (if I’m interpreting the log file correctly).
