Hi, I’m now using Fresh WDL, but Google still lists Weather display live see picture 1, when you click on it it will take you to the old site, see picture 2. I have tried removing the “page HTML” from the server but it then shows a 404 page, is there any way to change this, or get it redirected it to Fresh WDL. Also Google shows the word “HERE” I used to have that at the top of the page saying “click here for live weather” I have now removed that & put in in place “new real time weather”, will google change the word “here” or do I have to tell then about it.
Google periodically rescans pages so it will pick up your change eventually. The rescan frequency depends on how often the page has been seen to change in the past so it can take a while if your page has been fairly static. You can use the Google Webmaster Tools to claim your site and then ask to have the site, or specific pages rescanned. That would speed things up, but it won’t be an instantaneous rescan.
It’s good practice to put a redirect in. People might have it as a bookmark so they might think your site is dead if they just get a 404 error rather than looking elsewhere for the new page
