Mac OS 10.14.6
Wdsplay 10.37Mac360
Indigo 7.1.1
MacMini 2018
This computer runs my house. Its purpose is home automation. The 3 main programs run are: Indigo for automation, Weather Display and Plex server. There are some 32 bit auxiliary programs that were never updated to 64 bit thus my MacMini is the last one that can run 32 bit and Mojave is the last OS that can run 32 bit. So that is where this computer will forever stay.
I’m a firm believer in, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. So I’ve just let this system run and run and run. It’s been very reliable. Unfortunately it has been breaking, the OS is the original and it’s been getting tattered. Last thing that went out a few months ago was Time Machine stopped working. This was the first mini with a PIE HD, which I hate Apple for. They are really proud of the different HD sizes. I ended up with 500 gb. The straw that broke the computers back was running out of drive space. So I got a 5TB thunderbolt drive, installed a fresh Mojave and did a migration from the internal drive to the new drive.
It’s been a pain in the posture but I’m slowly but surely getting everything running again. One problem I’m facing is that the bridge between wdisplay and Indigo isn’t working. I’ve got lots of weather related events that go to Indigo. Under; Control Panel/FTP Connections/Manual FTP/Indigo the URL is correct. Going to it in a browser get’s the Indigo server. I have it set for every minute. It should be working.
Wdisplay was brought over by the migration. I see that the installer for it is a package. I’m thinking that the migration didn’t bring everything that it needed. I wonder if I ran the installer for a fresh program if that might fix my problem?
If so what is best practices for doing that? Can I just run the package and it will take the place of the existing program and pick up where it left off? The migration didn’t do that. I basically had to set it all up again. I had to manually add this months and the year to date rain amounts.
Should I rename the wdisplay folder in documents and let the installer create a new one and then replace the new one with the old one? I’ve got around 15 years of data in it.
What is the best way to do a fresh install and keep your old data?
