WD won't download data, other issue

Newbie here. Just downloaded WD yesterday and not getting data. Have an older Davis VP2 w/wireless WeatherLink Logger (USB). WeatherLink 6.0.5 software works fine and recognizes the station. Virtual Weather Station (VWS) also worked well until recently.

Set up WD with the wizard and chose the options that seemed to apply. But something is missing or misconstrued to keep WD from tapping into the data from the station/logger. Current time, sun rise/set

Tried clearing the logger (unplug fm power and computer), changing COM port setting (only available is COM1), running wizard several times and changing some station settings, still searching for a solution. What can I try?

Somewhat unrelated, the font on the WD display is inappropriate but I cannot find a setting page for it. Display resolution is 3840 x 2160 (which destroyed VWS). How can the WD display be modified for font size on meters?

looks like you have set your davis usb data logger to usb express mode
that happens if you select usb mode in weather link
you need to set it back to serial mode, i.e virtual serial mode

there is a utility program included with the weatherlink install files to do that
there is a FAQ here on the forum for how to do that
then a correct comport number other than 1 , to select in WD , will be available

Thank you for the reply.

I went through all of the FAQs re: Davis VP2 and came up with nothing that helped. Some links were old while others lead to a dead end. Then deleted and reinstalled WL6.0.5 with no results. Tried setting it to serial and the station was not recognized. Then set to USB and the station was recognized.

Went to the WeatherLink folder and found CPM2xManufacturing.dll. Searched and found the CPM2x USB to Serial Converter (exe) file and executed it. Opened WeatherLink and selected serial port with no results - “Com3 not on computer or in use”. Tried setting to USB and got a warning about not being able to use non-Davis software. Now the VP2 station is not found. Things are worse than before.

Maybe a link to some of the links you mentioned in your reply above would help. As of now, I will uninstall WL6.0.5, reinstall, and run CPM2x. Meanwhile, perhaps some additional help would be appreciated.

EDIT: OK, all is well now. If anybody is interested in solving this situation the steps are to delete WL6.0.5 and clear the folder of any remaining files. Then reinstall WL. Before doing anything else, find and run the CPM2x (exe) file. Then you will have to start from scratch with WL to establish your station. Run the wizard and be sure to choose serial as the com link. Auto detect the parameters and assign what is recommended. Mine added a new COM4. Test the station to make sure it is connected. Proceed with the rest of the wizard.
