you’re quite right. I ended up logging in as the root and changing the permissions on the com port manually. Seems to have taken it and is now working fine on every boot up. Still working on how to get Weather Display to start up in wine automatically when the server reboots. Any clues appreciated
Can be done a number of different ways. Because it requires the X environment to be running, I would make sure that your machine
is automatically starting an X session with whatever user you use, and then see if it has the ability to start programs once the session
has started. Without knowing specific details of your setup, I can’t give more details than that.
Have linux. WD for linux dies every few days for no apparent reason. So I tried Wine. Based on this post it seemed perfectly reasonable. But half if not more of the dialog boxes are missing the fonts. I have tried for 2 days to install the needed fonts with no luck. This isn’t supposed to be this fricken hard. :onfire:
So any idea which fricken fonts I am missing so I can get the WD dialog boxes working?
va7nic. The computer does start an X session when it starts. I am using Fedora Core 6 at present. Wine is starting automatically but I can see nowhere within wine to start a program on boot. The tick in the box on WD to start on boot doesn’t work either.
I hopethat’s a bit more of a clue. Any more details on setup let me know and I’ll try and answer
Since I am having 0 luck with the linux version I am trying to get WD running on Wine. I have 9.41 up and running but when I launch WD I get no fonts. Any suggestions? I have fonts in my wine config and wine file just fine.
Yes. I did try the new build. Now I get nothing at all from my weather station. I d-loaded new full version 5.5o and then grabbed the 5.5p and the libcom and applied. Nothing, nada, zilch. It won’t poll the data from my VP data logger. I get no data coming from the station. The header just reads Com 1 OK.
ok, this update should work (does for me, just tested with my VP): http://www.weather-display.com/linux/WeatherD.dat
download to where you have wd installed (and rename, by removing the .dat on the end)
I HAVE DATA!! Here are some sample chunks. How to supress the the output of com? I realize it is in some sort of debug mode. This is great news. I have really missed my WD Live data.
thats good news
that live data is while I am debugging for working with owners of WMR968 type station
once we get that working OK, I will turn that off in that version
