WD Lock Up & High CPU Use

The last several days WD has crashed (locked up) several times. I have been trying to problem solve the issue but decided it was time to post and get other suggestions.

Computer is a Dell Dimension 8300, Pentium 300 with 1 meg of ram. I have used the Windows Task Manager to monitor the CPU usage. At the beginning of the upload CPU usage can go as 100% for 2 seconds and averaged about 60% during the upload. At idle, without the WD webcam software running system stays at apx. 5%. With the WD webcam software CPU usage is apx. 30%.

WD, antivirus and firewall is the only thing running on the computer. I currently use the CarterLake templates (Ajax) version. I upload the first 5 pages every 5 minutes…the others every hour. I do not upload any file on a 1 minute basis. WDL is scheduled to update every 10 seconds. I upload my weather data to CWOP and Weather Underground…rapid fire is turned off.

This morning I decided to turn the WD web camera software off to see if there would be an improvement. System resources were low but I came home to find WD crashed again. I have copied the FTP file for your review:

I have followed the discussion concerning the gdiplus.dll file. I’m a computer light weight so I’m not real sure what this file is suppose to do. I did remove this file from the WD folder.

The current versions of WD is 10.37b build 06. I’m sure I need to provided additional data but I’m unsure of what to include. Thank you for reviewing this post and I look forward to a possible solution.

you need to remove that gdiplus.dll from the windows system32 folder and then reboot the pc, not from the wd folder

als, what speed PC exactly?

also try running the debug version as that produces a detailed error repport of any crash

Hello Windy thanks for the response.

I have removed the gdiplus.dill file from the system32 folder completely and rebooted the machine…I have installed the debug version…will keep you posted…
