WD gets windows error and stops (RESOLVED)

Hi,
I’ve been on Windows 10 for many months and had no issues with WD. This weekend, when I was out of town I noticed it had stopped updating early this morning. I used remote desktop and went in and stopped WD and rebooted the PC. WD starts but then soon after it starts I get the Windows error, see first jpg. I tried downgrading to an older version, rebooted several times and it still get the error. I’m home now and checked my Windows event viewer and I have attached the second jpg to show the error. I’m stumped, any ideas?

Now running Build 13
I just tried it again and it ran about 5 minutes before the error. WD Real Time FTP was running and I saw realtime ftp run once

5-30-16
UPDATE: Tried Brian’s Scheduled Task and it didn’t help
I also noticed I get the error and crash soon after the realtime.ftp runs. Not sure if is id part of the problem.

try deleting the
graphdata.inf
graphdata2.inf data files
and also any date/time stamped web cam files if they are in use

I deleted the files you suggested, I don’t have a webcam so I could not delete them. Unfortunately it didn’t help. I noticed I had a graphdata.inf, graphdata2.inf, graphdata3.inf and a graphdata 22.inf, I deleted all of them and it didn’t help. I’m not sure why all of a sudden this happen, quite frustrating I had having my weather page down after being up 8 years. Thanks for the help Brian.

it might be something in the wdisplay.ini settings file then
you could try backing that up, then delete, then run WD,…and see if it starts up
or it could be in the registry settings (wdisplayftp.ini in the registry)
you could also try exporting those settings (action, export windows registry settings in WD)
then back up that wdisplayftp.reg file
then use regedit.exe and search for wdisplayftp.ini and delete that whole entry

or it could be a file in the data filesor webfiles folder
(a test is to back up then delete (or just rename) that folder (when WD is not running)

so that you can try and pin point where the problem is

I backed up the wdisplay.ini file and then deleted it from the directory. I started WD and let it sit before configuring it, it did not crash. I started to configure and soon after I assigned the comm port I got the error. I also noticed that when I start WD it can load data for 20 minutes with no issues but once it starts sending data I get the error. The Realtimeftp seems to run fine it appears that the crash usually happens after the first or second time the WD ftp runs.

so it is not the wdisplay.ini file (bring that back from back up)
did you also test the back up and delete of the internet settings?
it could be one of the data files or webfiles
so the next step would be to back up then delete those folders
as a test

I haven’t tried to backup and delete the internet settings yet, I’ll try it tomorrow I have a busy day today. I have very limited time to work on WD after the Console data is loaded, sometimes only a few minutes. Is this the procedure you quoted that I should follow,“you could also try exporting those settings (action, export windows registry settings in WD)
then back up that wdisplayftp.reg file then use regedit.exe and search for wdisplayftp.ini and delete that whole entry”? Then if that doesn’t work I can restore Registry? I’m wondering if I turned off my Main Internet if I’d have more time. Thanks again Brian.

yes, you can restore the registry entry, via double clicking on the wdisplayftp.reg file that you have backed up
if you have remote access to the pc then I could help in trying to find where the problem is
and or .zip and email me the exported wdisplayftp.reg file (when you go action, back up registry entry now in WD ) and the wdisplay.ini file

I will try that tomorrow. I use chrome remote to remote access my weather pc, that’s how I discovered the issue. One other thing is that when the program crashes after it closes the Realtime ftp continues to run and update, the WD send tethered, and WU realtime also continue to run. I also timed it and I have about 3 minutes 30 seconds after the data extraction finishes before the program crashes. I’d be happy to have to remote at your convenience Thanks again
Jp

see if turning off the main internet switch stops the crash
so as to narrow it down more

I sent you an email Brian with a zip file

I have my page up after deleting the wdisplay.ini file from my registry. I don’t have all functionality, it’s been 8 years since I did this original setup, but it appears to be running. It doesn’t appear that my realtime data is updating at the correct level.

I was not able to dublicate the error here but I sent you an email about also needing the webfiles folder zipped

I’m slowly getting my site back to normal. I am having a problem with the clientraw update. It’s not updating every 3 seconds. Sometimes it goes up to 30 seconds between update. I’ve checked my settings and they look right. Did I screw something up someplace. Thanks in advance.
