WD does not update data at startup

Hello all!

I have a problem with WD. Sometimes WD restarts itself, what is ok, but when it tries to download the data of the last few minutes, it shows only the blue screen, but does not download anything.
I use WD 10.37Q build 38 on with windows xp and a Davis VP 2 datalogger with serial connection with an adaptor to USB.

Has anyone similar problems or even a solution?

Thanks, Michael

I had a similar problem occasionally after optimising the startup programs under msconfig with WD configured to start itself at power-up.

I sorted this by starting WD (admin privileges) using the task scheduler instead after a few minutes upon Win7 booting. If you are running WinXP or earlier this is probably not an issue because I believe its due to Windows UAI introduced in Vista.

kirchberger, make sure the Davis console time and date matche the PC and make sure it is set to 1 minute data logging
but if WD has been restarted after only 1 minute then it will not downloaded any data

Seems to be solved.

I reinstalled the driver for the usb to serial converter and synchronized the time of the PC and the VP2.

I’ve also experienced this with the more recent builds. On my latest upgrade I had to make like 4 or 5 attempts before it finally worked. It would just sit there, I saw it count to like 2 in the upper right of the data download window and then it went straight into WD but no data ever came in and WD’s main screen remained without any numbers showing. Then it finally worked.

I haven’t noticed any problems with the time being off but didn’t check this when I was having the problem. After everything started properly, and still to this minute, the time agrees.
