WD Automated Backup Script

I was thinking of writing a backup script to make a daily/weekly copy of my WD files on my Windows WxPc.

Has anyone else done anything similar and if so what is a good method?

I was thinking of writing a batch file and getting the scheduler to run it either daily/weekly. Also what WD files/directories as it would be nice to keep this streamlined so I don’t get a bloated backup container somewhere.

Any thoughts would be good.

I simply added a second hard drive to the desktop and use Windows 7’s own backup facility to do an auto backup of all new & changed files to the second HD at around 2am each day.

I use Karen’s Replicator which simply checks all files for changes and copies over the changed files, daily…

I maintain a complete backup copy of all WD files with the exception of the webcam images…

Do you run WD’s backup too so that you have a copy of the reg data?

Yep, I run that using WD’s backup deal…

Good point, I have set this up also - do backup the windows system also?

Where would I find this option/setting?

Quoting myself #-o I guess WD Control Panel → Data Backup will be the one I want

Yep, that should do it.

I think so, it’s set to do a full backup (IIRC) so I assume that includes the system files.

WD backup is working and Win7 backup is running weekly on Sunday
I am glad that is running so that I can recover if the HD collapses or something horrible.
