Brian, it’s ok but I would like to insert pictures also so I guess I need to create my website thru a hosting web? that’s correct?

Hello Christophe,

You would create your web site using whatever tools you wish, such as the WYSIWYG editor in WD or using CarterLake’s Template or any other HTML editor… Then you would need a web host in order to have a place to upload your site and for people to view it…

Bob, thx for your reactive answer.
Cheers,
Chris

Chris,

If you have never created a web site I highly recommend trying out Tom’s Templates located here:
http://discourse.weather-watch.com/t/14006

A number of folks have really nice looking web site using those templates and they also will help you get a better grasp on web page creation as well…

Good luck,
Bob

Bob, thanks again for all your accurate answers , may be I’m “idiot” but what WYSIWYG is used for if I work with a web host? Do I need Frontpage to create my site?
So many questions… #-o

A web hosting account is simply the place where your website files are stored in oreder to make them accessible to others via the internet… You still need to build the web-pages in some way… You could build them in Frontpage, the WYSIWYG editor built into WD, a commercial web-design application such as Dreamweaver or simply hand-code them yourself.

As a complete newbie I would recommend using the standard web-page templates built into WD to start with and then using templates such as those provided by Tom (Carterlake) as these will give you a nice looking website with little effort on your part but will allow you to edit things to your preference and let you learn the basics of web-site authoring as you go.

Whicever method you use to build the website, you will still need a web-hosting account on which to store the web-page an make it accessible to others.

Hope that clears up some of the confusion.

Al.

P.S. Not knowing about these things doesn’t make you an ‘idiot’… Not having the nerve to admit your ignorance and ask questions would!!

Justal, thx a lot for your comments. I appreciate it!
