So - after indeed decades of happy recording, my system of an original Texas Weather Inst WR-25 (before serial numbers) and VWS V15p05 have decided not to speak to one another anymore I have been feeding data from VWS to WD using the data.csv connection for about two years, and thought I knew what I was doing. I managed to switch all my sensors over to a high resolution TWI WR-25 (with a datalogger, lightning connector, and tcpip board) If you boot with the ethernet connected the external com port is disabled. So - it’s tcpip port 80 to get data. The unit spits out a status.xml file about 1sec, and a twidata.txt file - same rate iI think. both are accessible via port 80 on the unit. I set up this as TWI WR8000 HR unit to use the twidata.txt file at 1 sec intervals. WD began displaying data as soon as I enabled master internet switch BUUUUTTT - I believe the windspeed dial is displaying wind avg and not wind gust, as it only updates about every 10 sec or so. The box itself is updating on its webpage at least every second.
questions:
How can I set the windspeed dial to display instantaneous wind speed not avg?
Anyone have any idea whether I should be using the TWIdata.txt or the status file method? the Status file is status.xml and not status.txt.
I have already successfully re-established my CWOP uploads - now on to WU once I find than dang Device API again!
MANY thanks to everyone - Yeah - I’m even older than the machines and software I’m using - BTW it is WD 10.37S 150 (Brand New!)
Not sure I get the problem. After reading your post I conclude that you are trying to use VWS software to feed data to WD. Scratching my head on this one…why not eliminate VWS? I mean, Brian has coded WD to work with just about every station type out there so I assume he included the WR-25.
Weather Display - Supported Stations
Weather Display can be used with the following weather stations:>
I am now connected using only WD 10.37S150 via tcpip to the TWI WR-25 (wr-8000 High res equivalent) machine. Since the com port communications failure, I had to abandon VWS (which HAD been feeding WD on a second machine while I tried to see how to use WD ) - But now I am just using WD to acquire the data via TCPIP from the TWI WR-8000 Hi Res box. The question is there are two option to do this in WD - the first is to use in my case 192.168.10.60:80/TWIDATA.txt and set the update frequency (at 1 sec). The second is to use the 192.168.10.60 IP and a check box to use STATUS instead.
The way the dials on the main screen are displaying now, it looks like the windspeed dial is displaying the AVG windspeed rather than the instant or gust wind speed. I’d like it to display the instant wind speed, but I don’t see an option for that.
Otherwise, WD is happily sending data to WU even using Rapid Fire and to PWS and CWOP.
The old VWS program is not launched at all anymore.
Okay I misunderstood your issue. I am not familiar with the WR-25 so I am unabke to help. I assume you have tried both options in WD and neither provided the solution. Best bet, if nobody steps in to answer your query, would be to contact Brian direct and ask for assistance.
