VP2 + settings questions using WD ver 10.37S152

I seam to have a couple issues that I cannot for the best of me find out how to correct.
1st. On WD software, I always see the moon icon even though the time is set correctly.
2nd. The forecast5day.gif is missing images or any data. It just shows Today, today, today… Also the scrolling ticket is missing any data.
3rd. Most of my tank images are without color even though the numbers show an amount.
4th. (I’ll stop here) The rainyeartank.gif image has 13.370.in listed in it but the blue amount is very low. I have years of data and I know we normally only get about 36" per year so shouldn’t the graph be somewhere around a third full?

  1. Go to Control Panel > Summary Images & Icons > Icon / VP Forecast / Weather Description Setup. Bottom left box “Icon / Conditions from Solar” tick those settings which apply to you. You don’t say whether you have a solar sensor or not, or whether you download your local METAR for the local conditions.
  2. Go to Control Panel > FTP & Connections > NOAA Forecast Download. Bottom righthand box is the 5 day forecast settings where you choose the forecast file to use and set the tick boxes and then clickthe “View” button for the image page and more settings.
  3. Go to Control Panel > Web Files / Web Page / Realtime FTP > Individual Dial Images/Temp Panel Setup. This page allows you to set the dial image colours and the rain tanks are the bottom three buttons.
  4. Not sure about this one but go to View > Rain Chart. Here you can change your rain totals if there’s an error, so check here first and see if it matches your log files. To find this go to the WD program folder “wdisplay” > Logfiles > the current months log file will be named “42025lg.txt” and this years’ rain total will be the second figure from the right.

Budgie,

  1. I have previously chosen from the top, 1, 2, 4 as well as Show the moon icon (at night). A;sp Show downloaded metar when clicking on main screen icon. The last one on this screen is “Show border”. I had selected to download the metar for two near-by airports but nothing shows in the metar folder under Wdisplay folder.
  2. After finding a new metar and looking for the forecast file, it blue screened the OS. It is Win7 since the newer OS’s don’t like the laptop. LOL Still no metar in its folder.
  3. I see the colors…
  4. That is a weird one since a little over 13" is correct. All of the vertical rain gifs are empty even though there is a number in them. However, I found a checkbox in Webfile/Indivdual Dial which might help.

Still no Metar files so…

This may have a bearing on it. There’s something in the back of my head about W7 not being compatible with later versions of WD.
Check the system requirements for ver 10.37S152 in the WD website and make sure it works with W7. You may be restricted to an older version of WD, which is available on the WD Downloads page.

If that side is good then you need to look into why you can’t download the METAR. Recheck all the settings and make sure you can access the METAR date using a web browser, to prove it’s not a Firewall issue.

So the tanks all filled up and I don’t know what the cause was.

Good thought on the OS but it still shows anything from XP on. I know there is a Chromium error that shows itself during application launch but after clicking past that most works as expected.

My laptop running WD is o l d! Dell Latitude E5500. I see it freezing up every few minutes but the CPU resources are all still OK, RAM (4GB) is at 80% so it might be doing too much swapping.

Maybe, I will build WD on a slightly newer E6400 which has more RAM. Hey, my b-day is coming up, maybe I’ll ask my wife for a small quad core Mini-PC! The caviote is it needs to have a serial DB9 port for the data logger…

Thanks!

USB to serial adapter would sort that

Then it’s out of date. . . I think Brian’s latest compiler (build 146+) supports Windows 7SP1 and later (PM).
