Im helping out a friend with the allday video setup.
We are having a problem with the .wmv creation - the mpg files is beeing created fine with no problem - but when moviemaker starts to create the .wmv file it stops after a second.
The videolastday.wmv file is created - but is only 5 kb each time.
Its excactly the same with the videolasthour.wmv.
We have tried different times of day and time intervals - and the .wmv file is always 5 kb in size.
Personally, I think this could be complicated to diagnose. I think that because the video creation has a time limit and I guess the size of the still image bitmap, the number of frames per second, and the power of your computer will all combine to affect the process.
So, whilst I don’t think I can cope with diagnosing that lot for you, I will tell you how mine is set up, because mine works ok.
Camera still image capture (I use VideoGS BE) set to capture every 1 minute size = 320x240
C:\Program Files\wdisplay\alldayvideo\encodenew2.bat has: csript.exe //T:1240 wmcmd.vbs… where the T: option controls the time allowed to make the video. I found the default too short on my installation. I think that this allows about 20 mins.
Weather Display : Control Panel : Webcam : I have the frame rate set to 7
Hope this helps. If you need any other settings then let me know and I’ll send them.
He could have a corrupted image file, Henrik, so it maybe worth deleting all the images in the webcam folder (if that’s what he’s called it) and letting webcamcapture start again with fresh images.
We have tried starting all over from the beginning and deleted all the webcam files in the webcam folder.
The thing is that the videolastday.mgp is beeing created and is working perfect. (For a hole day take about a minute)
Next is the creation of the videolastday.wmv and here the moviemaker.exe stops right after it has started creating the videolastday.wmv file and the size is always 5 kb. In the movielog there is no errors.
We have tried using just a couple of hours of webcam pictures and the result is always the same.
I have also checked that all the webcam images (jpgwebcam.jpg) has the correct dimensions (320x240) and no one of them are corrupted.
Had the same problem myself using the 3rd party webcam setup, wd was producing a non windows standard jpg size that windows media encoder didn’t recognise so wouldn’t process the mpg file to create the wmv file
if thats your problem follow this thread http://discourse.weather-watch.com
good luck took me ages to get there.
Thanks for the link. The problem is the same as described by Brian.
But I dont think the webcam image size is wrong - I have check them all and they are 320x240.
Unfortunately I dont think it helped. I followed Brians suggestions - but I dont get any error. See attached pic of when I ran the encodenew2.bat in DOS mode.
In the screen pic - you can see the dots from 0% to 25% and then only a few dots from 25%-50%-75%-100%
(…25%.50%.75%.100%.)
Right after the bat files gets to 25% it completes very fast.
Eclosed a copy of my encodenew2.bat run, might be of some use mine did take a while to run
I notice the location path for WDisplay in the batch file is the route of C and not in program files directory, is that right, just a thought
I too have had this issue, the only way i cured it was to delete all the images in the folder
but having said that you have done this already, also i dont think it would create the mpg
if there was a bad one…
Please reinstall the WM Encoder i am sure i had to do this as well at some point, i think it
was the 1st time i tired to create the wmv’s
I think its now time to see the screen shots of the settings, there has to be something amiss
Have you tried creating the allday and lasthour manually?
I think Budgie is normally the main man when it comes to video creation
I know its frustrating cause i had this exact same problem but mine was in Vista
never cured the Vista problem, i went back to XP, but your already on XP so i am
now at a loss as to what it could be, i doubt its the images being different sizes
cause your able to create the mpg, so it must be something else…
The only other thing i can think of try is to reinstall WD from the full package, perhaps
Budgie will see this thread have an idea, after reinstalling the WME did you reboot the PC?
