For anyone upgrading to a mini pc that has no serial ports. A converter I bought on Amazon (DriverGenius 4 Port USB to Serial RS232 DB9) has been working perfectly for about 6 months and I highly recommend it. I was going down the path of converting my Davis data logger and hobby boards 1-wire controller over to usb but it became cost prohibitive etc. I have in the past just added serial cards but this becomes an issue with lack of pci slots. Bottom line is if you need to move your setup to a new pc without serial ports this converter works great.
