Hi,
I received a Lacrosse 2310 for a present last Friday, and after setting it up, went for the weather watch software. Love it; now, having said that, I am unable to get the ‘post to web site’ function working. Right off, I’m hardware knowledgeable, Web illiterate, so it is probably me.
I used the wizard for web publishing and it assembles all the data well. I’ve entered my home.comcast.net site name, entered my userid and the password, but it rejects the connection. I really don’t know what I am doing, thus it’s very hard to try and troubleshoot it. I will try again later tonight and post the ftp log with the error messages. This is primarily a call for help from a US based user, ideally one already posting to comcast.net customer home page sites. I’d like to pick your brain for a bit of help and pointers as to how you’re getting it to work.
First thought would be that you might not have the correct user name and password for FTP login -
On my server (not Comcast however), my login is different for my web control panel than it is for FTP login -
Something to double check.
Ken,
To upload files from your computer to Comcast Online Storage, using WD FTP software, enter the following FTP Server Settings.
Under Setup> control panel> ftp/internet/metar/… connections tab
SERVER: upload.comcast.net
USER NAME: Comcast.net user name
PASSWORD: Comcast.net password
Your website should be found at either http://username.home.comcast.net/
Gus, Snowman –
Thanks!!! Got it working. The FTP site name is different from the HTTP name… Once I used the right name and path it went well. I now have it up and running, well, after a fashion. It needs much little pretty work done in the way of titles, guest logs, page counts, perhaps additional directories so all is not jumbled, but, I’m getting there. I’m going to play with it on my day off (wednesday) if I can find some time and see what I can do!
Found an interesting bug - or Ken-error probably - in which the min - max temps are highly -ve, as is low temp /high temp showing -1832 F. It’s almost certainly my problem. I plan to completely wipe the site clean, create a weather directory, and load it from scratch again.
I love this site; when I have time I plan to review the older postings and archives, as I don’t believe my problems are truly specific to me, but really part of he learning curve, and this can be remedied by some research.
hi
good you got it going, and good help there guys
re the daily hi/lo not updating…
check the time and date (year) on your pc is correct maybe?
also, what version of weather display
That’s great unklegrumpy -
Now that you are started, Weather Display will likely become an obsession like it has for me - so much to learn everytime I work with it!
Brian – i’m using 10.19x for software… Since it does more than i dreamed of, i’m paying for it either tonight or tomorrow morning…
Snowman – Obsession? Hell yes… I’ve been a weather channel junkie for nigh on 15 or more years… Insomnia does have its rewards, well, after a fashion.
Nw, my job is to review as many of the personal sites as I can, looking for cute ideas and tricks. I know I’ll be in the forum, and reviewing arhcives a lot tonight and tomorrow (in between rebuilding an old IBM laptop which will become my weather server system)
