Well looks good already. If any of you are unable to see there are many live feeds going on around the world. Lets hope it turns a nice shade of orange.
We have totality! It’s pretty spectacular - rather like Mars uncomfortably close. We have some patchy cloud coming in now, but it’s not causing too much of a problem.
It’s a strange thing, as the moon came into totality, you could really see that it’s a globe, rather than a disc as it normally appears.
This is the best one i have seen. Totality will last until 23:58. The deepest part of the eclipse is 23:21.
Yes Bob it really does have a 3d effect.
Hi
In Denmark the weater cleared up and the total moon eclipse was fantastic - i have never seen anything like that. Beutiful dark red moon.
Stayed clear here. For some reason didn’t see the ‘blood moon’ efect.
Perfect viewing of a big orange, viewed through my orange trees!!! Clear sky, quasi-zero light pollution.
Coincidence: very windy before and after but the wind dropped during the whole period of totality. Don’t try and read anything into this!!!
Anyone get any pictures? I know there are a lot of pictures but I was just wondering if anyone from here got any?
Send me a copy of your pictures, and I will put them on my website, and win a
Lol - i got a picture… should be a laugh - I was at a friends 21st and we wandered outside to cool down - the lovely brown moon was eclipsing in a clear sky, so i took a picture or 2… now will my camera even pick up the moon… im pretty sure my flash wouldnt reach that far!
Not had chance to see any other pictures yet.
I took a whole load but even on a Tripod with a 300mm lens (works as a 450mm on my DSLR) they still all came out grainy and shaky especially at totality. Had to use ISO3200 and 1 sec at f5.6 #-o #-o Not worth publishing anywhere!

Many thanks to all of you who submitted images to the Isle of Wight Weather Lunar Eclipse Competition. We have ended up with 29 people, submitting a total of 112 images :o.
The images will be judged this week, and a winner will be announced on Saturday, 17th March, 2007.
You can view all the entries by visiting http://www.isleofwightweather.co.uk/lunar_eclipse.htm.
I am sure you will agree, there are some really good entries, ranging from snaps on mobile phone cameras, to near professional photoshop contributions.
If you have any images you, (or someone you know), did not submit, I am afraid you are too late to win the prize :(, but you can still have them added to the galleries for the world to see :D.
Thanks Shaun, must put next Saturday in my dairy to see who wins. :thumbleft:
BTW very good photos, not the easiest subject to photograph.
Many thanks to all entrants in the Isle of Wight Weather lunar Eclipse Competition. We had entries from 29 people, submitting a total of 112 images.
The job of judging the images was given to Mr Richard Peace, and the Nodehill Middle School Met Club, and here is a copy of how and why they chose the winner.
We thought the standard was extremely high and thoroughly enjoyed looking at them. The pupils critically evaluated each and every photo and made me make a note of their comments and their score out of a total of 10.
They decided that the award should be split into 2 categories - those that sent single images and those that sent more than one or composite images. Their scores and comments are listed below!!
Composite
1st - Mark Emery - 9.5/10 Excellent ideas. Quality photos (it made them gasp when they saw it)
2nd - Ian Pass - 8.5/10. Good progression of images. A shame the orange was slightly blurry.
3rd - Jeff Arthur 8/10. We really liked the progression into the eclipse and out
Single photos
1st - Shaun Markham - 8.5/10. Really large image of the orange moon. Very clear.
2nd - Ian Clarke - 8/10. Good size. Captured the beautiful orange colour well.
3rd - Kieran Marshall - 7.5/10. Good clear, large image. Not enough eclipse shown!
