Icon is always wrong. Right now it is 100 % sunny but the icon show rain. You can see in the image Icon and Solar.jpg that the solar is 615Uv.
When I click on the icon, two images pop-up. One is the smaller icon showing that it is night when it is day. During night it shows day. What I call the Icon.jpg shows that it is night but you can see int he con and Solar.jpg that it us daytime.
The second pop-up is suppose to be the forecast but the tabular are empty and no data is displayed. In the forecast.jpg you can see that the tabs are empty of data.
In all three cases I think I have things setup correctly but my experience says that I probably do not. Suggestions??
With the icon/solar, check that you have the Longitude degrees correct. WD has this backward, ie where you would normally have a -ve, it should be +ve. Only the Longitude though. Latitude is correct.
To validate, click the ‘Plot max solar line now for testing’ and see your graph (see attachment). Does the sine wave line look like sunshine hours?
I also read in another thread that I need to check my time zone. I had it as +5 not -5. East Coast US is -5…
I will have to check this setting but now that it is dusk, I kept the defaults and that is 75% for a sunny day. I will need to compare this againt the solar graph to see if I missed some clouds.
I think the issue was that I never noticed the clouds. Working only allows me to look out a window but after reviewing the Solar readings for the day, these were well below 70%. So maybe it was correct looking over the whole day. When I looked the sky was clear. I will monitor this and if needed adjust the settings. Thanks for your help!
I still have the one last issue with the forecast not showing up correctly. When you click on the picture of the icon (Sun…) it opens two windows. The windows in the back is the forecast window and mine is empty of any data. Suggestions for this one?
That is the thing, I have about 10 stations that should be downloading into the c:\Wdisplay\metar directory. You can see this in the attached pic. However, the directory is empty.
Maybe I have something wrong?
Also after reviewing the solar issue with the (today) lack of any clouds. The icon still says it is overcast. Even after I lowered the % solar to 50%, same thing.
the forecast download is on another setup screen
NOAA Forecast download
where you need to set the needed NWS/NOAA forecast file to download
and it needs to be the correct one, i.e the correct format, to produce a 5 day forecast
then you select that file and set to use for the 5 day foreast
Make sure you have a tick in the box marked “Set the weather icons (unless raining) from the solar data, during the day time” in Control Panel > Summary Images & Icons > Icon/VP Forecast/Weather Description Setup.
I have not forgotten your request. I am looking for a pic editor that will allow me to convert the pics to black and white. This should reduce the size enough so I can post both pics. The limitations are sometime challenging but I understand why they are there!
A full 1280 x 800 screen capture saved as a .gif is only 85K, you only need to capture two small windows so I don’t understand why you are having a problem with filesize :?
Just for grins I followed these directions and one gif image size was 122KB which is smaller than the 138KB that JPG produces. Since I needed to attach two images and the total cannot exceed 192KB, I had to do some image modifications.
For others who wish to reduce sizes evern further like I needed to, I reduced the overall capture from 7" to about 3.5". It should still be viewable and it significantly cuts down on the KB’s. One step further was to change the scapture to B&W. This saved another 20 or more KB.
The only trouble is, the image is too small to be able to see the settings.
I’ve just gone through the process with Paint that Niko describes and have attached the full size image.
If you can’t fit two in the same post then just attach them in two posts.
