I was asked to inform if WD is able to have Thies Clima Laser Precipitation sensor to read and write data from the device into WD.
Ive seen WD has all the options to save and store weatherdata for their needs.
As a test i managed to have WD communicate with the sensor by a cronpakbus file in WD after i searched the forum for Loggernet and/or Campbell and the correct ways to communicate with WD.
I have set the sensors output to a resolution of 0.01 mm, which ive read WD can handle, which is great.
The test i made is setup to have a “fake” amount of precipitation of 0.01mm every second.
In this way WD is receiving data from the sensor every second at 0.01mm/second. Or 36.00 mm/hr.
I noticed WD is ignoring reading data from the sensor during the end of the minute, begin of the new minute, every minute.
Thats not ideal with this high resolution sensor, we most be sure not to miss data at all.
I didnt test the other sensors yet regarding this behaviour.
Is this something within WD to prevent this from happening?
The sensor is capeable of measuring different types of precipitation, which will be shown as the most frequent occuring precipitation type stored, in a minute, which will be a number.
I think Ive seen such an field in the direct serial connection field in WD but i will check that at a later stage.
There are some other things on the wishlist from which i dont know if they are available in WD.
But these i will mention at a later stage probably.
We have noticed there are 2 ways possible connecting to WD.
One is by cronpakbusnew.exe in the main WD folder, the other by running Loggernet in the background so the .dat file, which is updating with data every second, will be updated by Loggernet.
When running WD with the cronpakbusnew.exe setup, there are like 60 CSV files in the mainfolder WD which seem to update one by one every second.
We dont know why this behaviour is only seen with the cronpakbusnew.exe setup.
Are we right in thinking those files are used to calculate weatherdata in one way or another?
I forgot to mention cronpakbusnew.exe is running flawless, not missing a single piece of data:)
I see when i set (as a test) the rain to 0.1 in the “pakbustabledata” CSV, the amount of rain on the mainscreen is showing 0.1mm.
But when i set of in the next csv file (“pakbustabledata0” , then it wont change the amount of rain on the mainscreen.
Is it possible you can tell what they are for?(the 60 CSV files in the main WD folder)
Or if its possible to check the amount on the mainscreen rain data and the data in the 60 CSV files?
Or probably its already working but ive made a setting set wrong?
I got my station outside in its premanent location after running it in a sort of test environment
So far the station is running fine and i am trying all settings in WD to see if its all setup right.
Unbelievable the amount of settings WD has, im hoping ive set all right but if not, i will ask here if you dont mind
May i ask you kindly if its possible to have the check for missing raintips as i mentioned in a previous post?
That would be very much appreciated
I am using vaisala and other related weather sensors.
They are connected to a Campbell Scientific datalogger and output data every second in a .dat file.
I have the cronpakbusnew 3.8 running to collect the data every second , which runs perfect without delay and/or missing raintips.
Weatherdisplay is setup by “direct serial comport setup”.
To be sure i have added a picture from the cronpakbusnew screen to see settings if needed.
I am starting to think my station setup is not something which is going to have much support over here.
Ive noticed other issues from other users of WD which are posted much later are picked up right away.
If youre name is “Administrator” for example, the issue is picked up immediately.
Anyway, my issue isnt hard to solve, the windspeed is looked after the same way, so adding the same method for rain isnt that hard me thinks.
Dont get me wrong, youre doing your upmost best regarding WD, but the post which are picked up to solve, are random and depends on your name or station brand or just a new member.
For example, beside my post, the post about german language…a month since last respond.
While in the meantime new posts are solved and even some get the message “I could add that as an option”.
It is expected that there will be no response to that and this post either
