Tempest Station - WD No longer receiving data

Option #1…go into the tempest app and remove (delete) your station. Then start over adding your station. You will get a new station ID. Then start up WD and enter the new station ID and then check cronweathetflow for data.

Or option #2…contact the folks at Weatherflow and open a ticket. But since you only have 6 days of data it’s probably easier to do option #1.

Here’s a screen grab of my latest attempt to view your station:

Hi Am frustrated with the same issue – trying to get it to work consistently

cronweather is suppose to be clicked on private and public

I can duplicate your observations. I think you need to re-start WD to get accurate results in cronweatherflow. I’ve found that if I don’t restart WD the data I see in cronweatherflow may contain remnants from the previous station.

I have the same issue and have tried everything mentioned and more. I am about to just give up and find another software. I used this one for so many years I forget how long.

Thanks Dan and Chris for all the follow-ups and suggestions/tech support.

I think for now, I’ll stick with what works for me currently.

When I start WD, my station ID does not retrieve any data from Cronweatherflow. So, in the WD app, I change the station ID to another one (any other one, but I know by heart the ID of one near me…). That starts pulling in correct data immediately. Then, again in the app, I change the Station ID back to mine. Now Cronweatherflow pulls in my data properly. Shrug???

I don’t know how/why/what makes that work (again, for me)…at least 2 times in a row now. But we’ll see how things go over the next 4 days as I’ll be gone from the office and WD will be running that whole time with no attention.

If any of your haven’t emailed Brian about this yet please do. As you know he no longer uses the forum so he may not know the full extent of the problems.

Thanks Chris - I did…on Wednesday. I haven’t heard back from him. This is the 2nd time I sent this…
This is what I sent him:

Hello Brian - I’m hoping you can help.

I have a Tempest WX Station (Station ID: 107169) that works great. However, Weather Display’s CronWeatherFlow doesn’t pull the station data, therefore it doesn’t show up on Weather Display’s dashboard.

I have done a lot of troubleshooting, with a bunch of folks over at discourse.weather-watch.com but we can’t figure it out. I had it working, then on Jun 13th or so it stopped. It was able to get data again a couple of days ago, but it stopped again when I updated to the latest WD version (with Cron 8.7).

Here’s the link to my swd.weatherflow.com station data:

swd.weatherflow.com/swd/rest/observations/station/107169?token=aa57a411-de93-4f79-9f21-83da8628b794

That data comes across great. But using Cron nothing comes through.

Is there anything I can do to help in troubleshooting this? Any logs you might need? Or anything I can do to resolve this over here?

Thanks in advance,

I know some of you have mailed him but there seem to be more people reporting this every day and it isn’t clear whether everyone has mailed him. I suspect we’ve reached the end of ‘end user’ support on this issue because pretty much everything that has been suggested by users hasn’t helped so the only person who could now resolve this is Brian himself.

Note: I have no special route to get information to Brian so I’m only suggesting possible courses of action. If he doesn’t respond then I can’t wave a magic wand to get a reply for you.

10-4. Understood. Thanks for the support!

Hello – I understand your frustration — I get to just giving up — but i dont want to – when it works – WeatherDisplay its a pretty good program – Question – Does the screen have to be on always or can it go off and weatherdisplay working properly

Worked with Brian and ironed out all my issues with cronweatherflow. The latest upload build of WD fixes the import missed data from the Tempest.

That’s great, Dan. Glad you can work with Brian to help you get your issues resolved! He doesn’t answer my emails.

Cronweatherflow 9.0 still doesn’t work for me. Just like 8.7. UNLESS, I first put in someone else’s station ID into the “Control Panel/Station Type and Setting”, save that (and watch Cron work like it should…pulling in data), then go back and re-enter my Station ID, and save that…then it works.

Which, as a work-around, is the best I suppose I can hope for. It’s just that whenever I shut down WD (or my computer), and re-start it…I have to go through the same hoops. Not the end of the world…not ideal either, but it’s good enough.

Thanks for all the help (and Chris…)

I had a ton of problems getting it to work as well…but it does work. I will post my screens so you can see how I am setup:

Thanks Dan. Appreciate all the inputs. Your Cron (9.0) is different than mine - but I’m guessing because my computer is remote from the Tempest (my computer is at the office, Tempest is at home). So my UDP isn’t checked.

As an update: My Cronweatherflow with 9.0 is working…but here’s the caveat: I launched it from a separate folder (the whole updated Weather Display install actually) while the older, working cron was still running (this one (8.7) was working because I had to change the Station ID to a known good one, then change it back to my Station ID, which seems to “kick-start” Cron into working on my computer). When I launched the Cron 9.0 (well, when it launched due to starting WD), it started taking in all the data right away. I am pretty sure if I shut it down, and re-start it, it’ll be non-functioning like before, so in the interest of preserving my blood-pressure, I’ll just let it ride for now. Here’s a screen-shot of my Cron 9.0:

All right. Admin - you may label this thread “answered” or “closed” or “completed” or whatever

I took a chance and shut down WD with Cron 9.0. Re-started it without any other instance of WD running. It launched and Cron immediately started pulling in data from my station. It “works” now.

:+1:

There’s no concept of answered/closed/completed in this part of the forum. It’s something I could turn on but I’ll need to look to see how many questions in here get properly solved without having the software author present.

Anyway, it’s good to hear that things are finally working for you
