after several years of no issues, I got a strange WD behaviour today. For no specific reason (laptop runs just this + Nexstorm, WXSIM), the temperature and wind curves flatlined. The 32022lg.txt file did not contain any entry, but the solar plot in the WD’s main screen was showing expected values (sun increasing).
I did gymastics then (almost lost all my data…) to get temperature and wind back from the Davis’ logger. However, the 32022vantagelog.txt did not contain solar values (no records for that many hours).
After partial recovery, the WD was running OK for an hour and then the issue reappeared. I’ve restarted my laptop now to see if it makes any difference…
If the readings stop during night time then most likely the battery needs replaced and/or the super cap needs replaced and/or the solar panel is not working.
The readings are normal, even the WD is showing current values (left top corner). The log files and main plot do not update. Must be some other issue. I had ‘use threads’ ticked before. I unticked now and restarted the WD.
I hope, too. It is strange to me that this just happened with no special intervention, installation or something. The log file showed that data was not logged periodically (1-min) but started skipping minutes and at some point it stopped. Maybe too many things connected to WD
I know this is a very old OS. If there is a requirement to run on newer versions, I will upgrade. But I did actually downgrade from Win10 to Win7 due to OS <--> WD incompatibility issues (weekly crashes).
This is the only PC with Windows OS in my house and I prefer not to touch it at all unless necessary. I would use Ubuntu with all my happiness but I think Windows version is better and support all other hardware I have connected to WD.
I write this in “code” format since the forum did not accept the text.
