Hi,
I am on build 147 and today I noticed that the % solar calculation does not work anymore.
It remains at 0%.
Also the number of sunshine hours has stopped working.
I do have data for solar and UV coming from my WeatherFlow Sky station.
I am running 147 for quite a while now and haven’t got a problem since today.
Also I haven’t changed anything in the setup or solar setup.
Restarting Windows and WD does not help.
Anyone else experienced this or has a solution on what to do.
Several of us here have been having issues with sunshine hours in WD. All I can suggest is that you email Brian directly and explain your issue. Something has not been correct for some time with the latest version.
Update.
WD Version 147
It seems sunshine hours and % solar are still being calculated but not at the moment I checked those.
% is always 100 for the whole day.
That wasn’t the case always, always lower then 100% and I have been checking this frequently.
WeatherDisplay thinks it is much later then it really is.
WD says my Max radiation for lat/date is 0% at 19:02
At that time my WeatherFlow Sky still measures about 80 to 100 W/m2
The logfile shows the radiation is 0 at 20:30.
That is 1 and a half hour later then WD.
That brings me to my solar setup window.
I am always struggling with these settings when wintertime/summertime transition.
No transition yet but I doubt now if these settings are correct.
Daylight saving in use (Does auto set)
Do not auto set time zone
I am east of GMT and my timezone is GMT+1 (When NO Summertime)
Please email Brian directly about this. It has not worked correctly since version 146 (I think). I have tried emailing him about this but had no reply. He does not as far as I am aware frequent this forum any more so direct contact is the only way (hopefully) to get anything done about this issue.Something is very wrong in the WD code when it comes to the calculation of the expected max solar value for each minute but there is nothing we can do to fix this.
Well I emailed Brian about this and got this “i have made no changes that i can think of so i have no idea sorry ” so I think emailing Brian is your next coarse of action
The issue some of us have is with the expected max value which is used in the % sunshine hours calculation. In my case I’ve not touched my setting for some years since Brian sorted it originally. However now I can’t rely on it and the other day WD showed over 10 hours of sunshine which patently was not possible. I also have CumulusMX running and it uses the same sensors, showed 0 sunshine hours. On looking at my custom log file recording expected max values showed WD had values at solar mid day over 200w/m2 too low which explains why sunshine hours was wrong.
Also when checking expected max values at other times the error was inconsistent, sometimes reasonable others too high and others too low. None of this happened prior to version 147.
looking at that the max solar is wrong should follow over the top of your yellow solar plot so yours has the same problem
today was cloudy with rain here build 145 had no sunshine but build 149 (latest) shows 1.47hrs so sunshine i believe b145 is correct
Just to indicate the issue with expected max solar I have gathered data from CumulusMX and WD to show the discrepancies between them. The data is from 11th September and is around solar noon. The columns are Date, Time, Actual Solar Reading, CumulusMX Expected Max, WD Expected Max and you can see that the WD values are significantly lower than the CumulusMX values which in turn increases the sunshine hours recorded. All values are w/m².
@dcrooks I have used your settings in my maxsolar calculator to determine what your expected max should be and find you do have an issue which has already been said!
The first screen showed 204 as expected max and should be 300, the second showed 626 and should be 750, so these lower values will increase your sunshine hours potentially, if it is actually a ‘gin clear’ sky then you might expect the high values of sunshine hours but when the sky is not ‘gin clear’ then you can expect artificially high sunshine hours which is what those of us here have been seeing.
Cronweatherflow 7.1
I have no problem with solar from my weatherflow sky.
My sunshine hours are being calculated until 19:00
Max expected solar reading after 19:00 is 0 which is incorrect.
That’s why the sunshine hours stop counting.
Max expected solar reading should be 0 at around 20:30 for my position.
I have Unchecked Do not auto set timezone but that makes no difference.
Max expected solar reading still 0 at around 19:00.
My sunshine hours today 9:28.
Official numbers for my place was 3.8
