Sunrise/Sunset still same time before time change

Does anyone know how I can get the sunrise/sunset times to reflect the time change (i.e. my sunset right now says 6:03 PM, when it should really be 7:03 PM)?

Thanks.

Tim,

Mine were incorrect on Sunday but I figured perhaps that was due to when WD made the calculation, and that turned out to be true. I believe the time Brian uses comes from your system clock so perhaps re-check the settings there? - Jim

Jim,

My system clock is correct, and has been correct since the time change.

Sometimes there are things in WD that work even though we have the wrong settings. When Brian finds/fixes these (so they work as originally expected) it can break our setup. Brian made some changes to the lat/long recently, I would start there…

Dan,

I just checked my lat/lon settings, and everything is correct there.

Thanks.

Mine are both working OK.

Mine are correct.

wd checks the windows registry seting for the day light saving time flag

make sure you have let your windows be updated

Brian,

What do you mean by that?

Also, maybe restarting WD will work?

Thanks.

Well it seems like switching my time zone to GMT -4:00 hours (instead of GMT -5:00 hours, which is what it should really be at) and then changing the time back one hour works, but there has got to be some other way.

Hmm, at -7 hours here…I would have guessed you’d be -4 now. You can check your local time against zulu time at this site: http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?UTC/s/0/java

do have your windows version getting updated Tim

Brian,

Yes, Windows Update is ON.

Dan,

I guess that may be the problem. #-o

Thanks.

I think what Windy’s asking Tim, is did you update your PC with the Daylight Savingstime patch, that was issued by microsoft (windows update) quite sometime ago? See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928388

So are you fixed Tim?

Be careful of confusion between the time zone setting (which is what Tim referenced), and the actual time difference. Our (Pacific) time zone is GMT -8, but because DST puts the time forward one hour then the actual difference is -7. Tim’s time zone should be GMT -5, if he has to set it to -4 then something is wrong, like the DST adjustment isn’t working correctly on that PC.

How to test that your XP PC has switched to DST

Right Click on the time in the sys tray and select adjust date/time
Select time zone tab
The “automatically adjust for DST” box should be checked.

Uncheck that box, click Apply and see if the sys tray time goes back one hour, if it does the DST patch is working correctly. Recheck the box, click apply, time should be correct again.

If the hour doesn’t change when you uncheck that box then the PC does not think it is DST yet, IOW the patch isn’t installed or not working, or it just needs a reboot.

Niko,

Just fixed that this morning…the “automatically adjust time for DST” box was not checked. #-o It’s working fine now.

Thanks for the help everyone.
