Something is happening on my Weather server every Sunday at 06:00am that causes WD to stop working.
It doesn’t crash the PC totally, WD just stops retrieving VP2(USB) data and sending clientraw.txt data to my remote WDL website.
I have checked my Win7 event scheduler and there is nothing listed that runs every Sunday at this time.
My ftplog.txt has the last enrty:

The last two weeks I have restarted the server on Saturday to eliminate any memory issues and general Windows stability and it still stops working on Sunday at 6am.
Does or did WD have a setting to restart the PC every week?
I am running WD 10.37Q build 06 on a Windows7 64bit 4GB machine (no other user software running).
Sounds to me like it could be a weekly check for Anti-Virus etc or perhaps a weekly defrag of the drive. Make sure you exclude WD directories from any AV checking, also defragging while WD is running is not a good idea (if that’s what it is). Not everything which happens on a schedule will show in a Windows scheduler, what other programs do you run 24x7?
I don’t think it is the virus checker as I am now using Micorosft Security Essentials and I was using AVG Free and this problem persists with both virus software. I have also excluded C:\wdisplay from the scan and it is scheduled to check everyday at 01:00.
I agree it must be a Windows scheduled task of some kind but I am not sure what, I have attached a screenshot of my task scheduler - I can’t see anything obvious although I probably should review each one and disable any if possible.
What if any applications (ie. non-system programs) are you running 24x7? All those in the screen shot are Windows tasks. Often there are other applications running which are not Windows system tasks and they might have their own schedules which are not in the Windows scheduler.
Also I doubt that the other thread referenced will have any bearing on this
Yeah good point; nothing else has really been installed except for the Realtek audio drivers/panel and the Intel drivers/panel for the motherboard and gfx, both of which I can’t find any check for update options etc. I have attached a screenshot of all the system processes running. I have just disabled the googleupdater from loading at startup but couldn’t find out when it schedules its check.
Looking at the Event Viewer and system tab the last entry before WD stopped is: Service Control Manager (Event ID 7036) = The Application Experience service entered the stopped state.
Well I can’t see anything there which might be doing it. This is a strange one, I don’t run W7 at all (W2K on WD PC and otherwise Linux mainly and a bit of XP under Linux) so I can’t help much more. Perhaps someone else with W7 might have some ideas…
Thankyou for your assistance. I am not sure what else to check at this stage, perhaps I should get up early to observe this one when Sunday arrives. 8O
Can you remember if previous versions of WD (not that long ago i.e. 6months) had an option under Help → About possibly that restarted the PC each week?
Only mention it because I have this niggling thought that it did but I am a newbie with WD really.
Yeah this looks like the suspect, thank you.
I have turned this feature off and I will report back in a weeks time. I guess for some reason WD is not restarting properly under Win7 or something with Win7 is causing WD not to restart correctly.
