what weather station type?
which version of WD?
Hi Brian,
It is the station of my brother in law and he has:
WD build 369
Davis Vantage Vue
With build 366 WD stops once a day, sometimes daytime, sometimes nighttime.
He tried build 369 and now it stops after 10 minutes.
Brgds,
Oebel
i have been run a test here
(not davis station thouhgh)
no crashes even after 2 days of running
but though if there is always a crash at just after midnight then it might be the av/ext update, which can be turned off
but in any case, if its worse now with a recent version then its likely a new graphics driver I put in use
https://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/weatherdisplaymactest.pkg
that version has the original drive in use
Hi Brian,
It seems the problem has been resolved. I have installed your test version and also disabled AV/ext upload.
We’ll keep an eye on it. Fingers crossed.
Thank you!

Hi Brian,
Juried too early.
After a few days, WD crashes again.
The program freezes and must be restarted to run again.
Any ideas?
Brgds,
Oebel
i think the new graphics driver has been a cause of random crashes for some people
so that is now an option to use (in the misc setup)
in build 370
but the use of threads could also be causing issues so I will make that an option as well
Installed latest version (370 - 11th May 2022) and disabled threads. Works better imho
Also found that Mini Mac with Monterey goes to sleep! Disabled sleep in macOS settings.
All good so far
Hi All,
I’ve been chatting with Brian about this. I’m running on a 2018 Mac mini (8-core i7) with 16 GB of ram under Monterey. I haven’t had any crashing issues as described above, but what I have been having for some time is that there are several times every minute where the CPU peaks, I’ll get a spinning beach ball, and Weather Display’s clock stops updating. This happens at the same times every minute, and some of these times when unresponsive can last 8-12 seconds. I’ve tried multi-threaded on/off and it doesn’t fix it. As I’ve told Brian, I love the sharpness of the new graphics driver on the text!
Has anyone else seen this?
it might depend on what you have WD set to do
I do not see a spinning beach ball etc on the minute on my Mac Book Air
It’s not on the minute but at certain specific times every minute. I sent you that video the other day showing the WD clock and you can see if you watch it where it stops updating for a while. Let me know if that didn’t come through.
it might be something you have set
you could always run a test
i.e back up then delete the settings file (when WD is not running)
then run WD, should start up like new, setup just the basics to get data from your weather station and see how it goes…as a test
OK I can try that. I just spent some time watching it and it usually becomes unresponsive for very close to 8 seconds around 4 times every minute. And sometimes there will be a 33 second period where it is unresponsive. Very odd.
I’m using the GW1000 driver, and I have a PurpleAir monitor as well if that gives you any insight.
Oh very interesting! Deleting the WDISPLAY.INI and starting over seems to have fixed it. I have so many custom small things in the old one, I would prefer to not have to rebuild it. I’ll send the old one to you and maybe it will be obvious what was going on?
Matt
i have found one thing that might be a problem and fixed that
in a new update
OK trying it now!
It didn’t seem to change anything. I’ve been going through my WDISPLAY.INI and trying to prune anything that might cause extra clock cycles but so far haven’t found the culprit.
i am not able to duplicate here with your settings
Well darn. A mystery!
i have fixed the wrong UV value being used re ecowitt gw1000
