ok, I set it to 10 minutes to see if that helps. Were you able to get directly to the directory for the site. I intentionally did NOT set it up to automatically launch the htm file as I wanted you and Mark to be able to see all the files
Yes, saw everything. I’ve been checking the customclientraw.txt file and there does appear to be a problem with its updating so looks like a wd cron(?) issue and not a gauges issue.
well, it timeout in 3 minutes NOT the 10 I entered. I went back into the file and verified that the variable was in fact set to 10. Is there more than one place that I needed to change?
FYI, the customclientraw.txt file IS being updated as if you watch the gauges, they update (wind is the easiest to see), even AFTER the page indicates that the station is offline
The data in the customclient file is being updated (as does the last modified date/time of the file) but the time stamps in the file do not update!
So WD must be updating the data tags but the not the time tags? Very odd!
It does update them from time to time, but not consistently :?
Well, I don’t feel quite as stupid now. Yes, I spotted that the customclientraw.txt time data was NOT being updated. When you see it updating that is ME restarting WD, which ALWAYS writes out a fully updated file
I just restarted it to show you that it did work on a restart. One thing I have found is that one a restart, I have to go in and cycle the Main Internet switch in WD to get it to start the FTP properly
the cronftp program should start auto after a minute after WD stats up
another thing is that WD gets the UTC time via your time zone you have set in WD in the solar setup (for the Mac version)
so the issue is the cron ftp program on the mac is not reliable?
you can use a script (eg curl) to do that?
I should clarify, when you see the TIME data in the customclientraw.txt file update, that is ME restarting WD. WD updates the other fields and FTPs them up just fine, it is only the time data that stays static until I cycle WD
What I see is that the wx data in customclientraw.txt gets updated, but not the timestamp data in the file, the actual ftp upload seems to happen OK otherwise I wouldn’t be seeing the wx update.
(same thing FW0976 posted while I was writing)
First cron does start on its own, BUT for whatever reasons, it seems to never be able to pull the FTP site and login info until I cycle the Main Internet switch, I have the time zone set as +5 as I am in US Central Daylight Time…is that not correct?
Cron seems to work just fine but for whatever reason, the tags for time are NOT being updated by WD in the local copy of customclientraw.txt, which means that the FTP’ed version is likewise
I left everything up and running all night and other than the steel series LCD status panel still indicating that the station is offline (now for 12 hours), the actual gauges are still updating perfectly! You might note that the UTC time stamp has NOT been updated since 4/26/18 at 23:06, which IS when I last restarted WD. WD is simply NOT updating the time tags in customclientraw.txt BUT it does do so initially on launch of the program!
So how do we go about getting a resolution to this issue of the timestamps in the customclientraw.txt file NOT being updated?
This is clearly in the code as on initial launch of WD, the time tags are being filled properly and from there on all the OTHER fields are updating properly and the file IS being FTP’ed properly as well.
Having paid for WD I really feel that this needs to be solved as getting WD to properly feed SGs was my motivation for starting down this path. We are SO CLOSE!
FYI, I am a retired enterprise solutions architect, so code is no stranger to me. I don’t mind digging into the code and I certainly have NO problems beta testing things as we pursue a solution.
I have reached the conclusion that the barometer readings are NOT being updated on the steel series gauges. It shows that it has been at a steady 30.094 for both the high and low as well as present but the reality is that since midnight the barometer has actually been as low as 3.03 and as high as 3.12. I know the solar, wind and temp gauges are getting new data and they track what the station is reporting to WU.
As the creation and update to the customclientraw.txt file is done INSIDE the object code for WD, I have no way to correct these issues. I have concluded that I could comment out the code in gauges.js that handle the station time out function but that would just be a bandaid to that part of the problem.
I really need Brian to jump back in and help us here as he is the only one that correct the issues.
yes, I can
but its hard to follow all these posts
I need to know what is not working, i,e what needs to be fixed
its looks like , first, the UTC time is not being updated in the customclientraw.txt file? (only updates once at start up of WD)
yes?
Yes, what I have seen is that both UTC and the local timestamp at the start of the record are not updating, although most of the wx data is updating.
so its this data that is not updating?
“timeUTC”:“%utcdate-year%,%utcdate-month%,%utcdate-day%,%utctime-hour%,%utctime-minute%,%utctime-second%”,
the time at start of the file there is the %time% custom tag
is that changing/updating in the customclientraw.txt file? (check that in the actual file on your mac)
I presume WD is actaully getting live data OK from your weather station?
Here are two customclientraw.txt files just captured off the web. The interval between captures was 2 minutes. You can see the time stamps are the same, but the temp has changed from 77.0 to 77.2 and dependent fields have changed too. timeUTC":“2018,04,26,23,06,00” is from yesterday.

I have tested here and the time (both local and UTC) is updating OK
in the customclientraw.txt file in the webfiles folder for the Mac version
is there any errors under view, program event log FW0976?
also make sure you have set the lat/long in the sun moon rise/set as well
if you could email me your settings files
WDISPLAY.INI and wdisplayftp.ini
I can test here
