Station Data randomly captured

Hello All,
I’m Having a problem with not capturing all the data that comes from the wx station. I see the data capture box turn green in WD but the data packet counter doesn’t consistantly increase. it might be every other time or every 4th time. because of this my rain measurements don’t match between the station and WD. The computer is a compaq armada 3500 laptop (pentium II 300) running win98 SE and wx station is a lacross 2310 running wireless. wd is version 10.19S. I thought it might be stray RF so I coiled the data cable through an ferite donut, no difference, I get the same problem regardless if on battery or AC. I do notice that if I use the Heavy weather program to monitor the wx station there no data is lost.

Another problem I have is that it I exit WD and then relaunch it I get an Invalid page fault error and then :
application error Execption EAccessViolation in module weatherd.exe at 00448572
Access violation at address 00848572 in module weathd.exe read of address FFFFFFFF.
then the only way I can end this is to shut down the PC
Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Phil

hi
try ticking , wireless option, in the weather station type setup
also , what is the barometer reading (as wd ignores too low a reading)
also, which cable did you put through a rf balun?
as its the cable between the temp/hum sensor and the anenometer and rain gauge that needs replacing with twisted pair cable (i.e CAT5).
this works. fixes data spikes
this forum has lots of threads on this

not sure about the exit error, some memory error

Thanks for the reply, Forgot to mention that I tried selecting the wireless option, No difference, I have the balun on the line from the station display console to the serial connection on the PC. The problem does not appear to be related to data spikes from the outside sending unit as the information on the station console changes and the data received box on the pc screen flashes green but the data packet counter doesn’t increase. last week I had a steady rain and I watched the above happen and when it passed there was a 0.2" difference between the station console and the wd app. The console report matched and external (manual) rain gauge that I have so I’m pretty sure that is is a communication issue between the station console and WD. I’m going to try WD on a different PC to rule out the computer. Any other help would be most welcome

Thanks,
Phil
