Spikes in the Anemometer graph?

Hi question if i may .

Recently installed WD and a VP with the northerly wind i,m getting spikes in the graph, is this normal? I guess it is, is it because the wind varies from say 355 degrees and then back to 5 etc thus giving the spikes and the appearance somthing is wrong?

Also if someone could help please, i wanted to post a screen shot of the main WD page ( not a web page) to help explain the above question, but cant find ( or more likely havnt looked hard enough!) how to do this :frowning:

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you

pritt, yes that is what happens when the wind is coming mostly from the north. You can smooth some of that by using 10 minute average in the graph setup.

How to add a screen grab to your post:

A couple of choices are available…you can set WD to use dots for the wind direction plot, or, if the wind at your location is northerly most of the time you can change the graph from NWSEN to SENWS. Settings are under Setup → Graph Setup.

If by spikes you mean the wind direction then that is a fact of life because N is 0 degrees and 360 degrees. I find it looks better for a direction graph to be plotted as dots and not a line graph. You can do this in Graph setup - Plot as dots.

Thank you all so much  All my answers in one go and so quickly.

Sincerely appreciated

I,m off to give them a go.

Thanks

you can also force the wind direction graph to plot 180o shift , in the graph setup
