Can anyone recommend a good sound editing software that would help clean up or isolate background noise on a digital voice recorder?

This is a very good, and FREE, sound editor…

I have never used it for removing background sound but it does just about anything you want with a little practice…

I’d second that I’ve used it to record from vinyl and clean up some of the hiss/clicks etc and it worked well.

+1 - I’ve used it to put vinyl on cd… works better than some paid software I had…
