Setup for La Crosse WS 2010

I just downloaded the demo version of your Weather Display software and I have a few questions that I can’t figure out on my own.

When I first started running the program, it didn’t seem to be uploading the data that was stored on the interface when my PC was off. I tried changing a few settings and now for the first time it seemed to upload the data from the interface with no action from me when I started the program. I haven’t got a clue what I did to cause this to happen. Do you?

Second, the daily highs and lows on the main display (left side, mid screen) don’t seem to update properly unless I leave the PC on overnight. I’ve left the reset time to zero or midnight. Is there something I need to set to have it read in and update the highs and lows when it reads the the data from the interface?

I like what I’ve seen of the progrtam so far.

Steve

hi
the time wd looks back for to get the data is stored in a ini file, but the first time you run it, it doesnt know when it was last run…
so that might explain the first part

the second part:
I do want to get that fixed:
I have made a little tweak in the latest beta version
please try that
and also, please email me the section of the log file, 122003lg.txt , that covers the period over the midnight reset time
(email to [email protected])
thanks

hi
thanks for the log file
it shows, that for some reason or another, its not logging the data from the ws2000 type station data extraction at start up
WD used to handle this OK
Anyone else have this problem (I do have one other report of this)
I have a ws2010-13 data logger here, but I think the kids wanted to use the batteries, but then put them back in back to front :frowning:
and it seems rather dead now

good news
I replaced the batteries, and it works!
now to collect some data,…

i am sure 9.99f, uploading now, will fix it

just a note:
you will need to set the logging interval to 3 minutes (cahnge to 4 then back to 3 to set this)
I used to have WD do this on first time use, but that wiped the data

Brian,

Data logging, which was working in past versions is not working for the
LaCrosse in stable version 9.97h. You had it fixed again by 9.98e beta
while we worked together on this.

As you said. If he loads the 9.99 version, it should run for him.
This is going to happen to each new LaCrosse WS23xx customer
until one of these betas can be made into the stable version.

My experience with the midnight daily clear, is that it is not going to work
unless the program is running at midnight OR the station has loggings
within its memory that pass through midnight timeframe. If neither are
the case, it needs a manual daily reset. (Action / Reset Daily Extremes)

Herb

Hi Herb
he has a ws2010-13 data logger
Which is very different to the 2310 station

Brian,

I am not seeing this problem and have kept up with the beta versions on a daily basis. I do not shut down the PC, but it does get rebooted daily after I update the program software as I run WD as a service on W2K Pro.

Bob

steve, if you could email me your settings again:
wdisplay.ini from c:\windows or c:\winnt
and
wdsiplayftp.reg, from the databackup folder
(go to action, back up registry, then click on backup, to get that file created)
and i will test with the ws2010-13 data logger i have here
thanks

Brian, I’ve e-mailed you the files. I downloaded and installed version 9.99e and the Daily Maximums and Minimums seem to be logging properly, but I’m still having trouble with the upload from the 2010-13 interface. I checked and both the interface and the Weather Dispaly program (WD) are set for 3 minute logs

It seems to be reading the interface about 2 or 3 minutes after I start the program as I get a slug of data, but the date/time stamp shows about 1 second between data entries. For example, today when I started WD the data slug time stamp was from 9:21.57 to 9:23.28. I tried calculating the minutes between the last data read and the current start time for WD and then comparing it to the entries in the uploaded data slug. If my math is correct between Sunday at 8:40 am and Tuesday at 9:23 pm, I should have gotten 2060 logs. My data slug seems to have only 91 entries.

Thanks for your help.

Merry Christmas

Steve

OOPS! I seem to be a day ahead of myself. Factor out 24 hours from my calcs above. the total logs at one every three minutes should be 1580 which is still a lot more than I’m getting.
